i don't get this option : "Eventually, you will be asked: Do you want to start update?
Press the volume up button to say yes."

if you didnt get that option it means that for some reason the file did not write to your sdcard,,, reboot the phone, close the program out. make sure HTC sync is installed, make sure your phone is in debugging mode and stay awake, make sure you are using the ports in the back of the computer, make sure your phone is set to charge only. then try the application again from the beginning

I am at the Fastboot screen, saw the message about some files but still waiting for the screen to clear and see the "checking pd05img.zip" It's been at least 10 minutes stuck on this screen.

This is the 2nd time stuck at this screen.

Any ideas?

same as post above yours

I am on a laptop, will switch ports and see what happens and report back. Thanks.

Was able to successfully root using my laptop on the first try!!! Now to find out which rom and kernel to use. Any suggestions? I have used SS, cyanogen, and liquid rom on my OG droid, so any input would be welcome. Can't thank you enough for the autoroot and especially autounroot!!!

Just did it on my Sony Vaio S i5 running W7 64 bit. Everything worked great! Reminded me of rooting my DINC.

FYI- (not complaining, just letting you know in case you update it-it all went very easy for me)

I noticed in the instructions (in cmd) you only listed to turn stay awake on once. I turned it on after going through each phone setup. Not sure if it matters, or I wasn't suppose to.

I think somewhere towards the beginning you say to do something, then next line says hit power, where it should probably say wait for phone to display hit power, then hit power on phone. Just in case someone hit's the power button on the phone when they are not suppose to.

Also, somewhere about half way through you spelled black bak I think it was.

Thanks again, and let us know who all deserves credit for it, and for donations!

thanks ill check out those typos, i am not sure what area you are refering to with the power button because i mention to do it when the bootloader is highlighted. but ill try to go over it with a finer comb. thank you so much for the feed back and congrats

i get an error the says wrong or no image after i hit fastboot. i guess i'm too dumb to root. lol

I can't get past the same place again. Will try on another laptop tomorrow. Too late to start again. Will follow this thread tomorrow at work.

Thanks for this!

Ya, I can't remember what it was exactly. It really wasn't that big of a deal, but thought I's mention it as someone else with less experience(lowest common denominator), or nervous might jump ahead. I think it was something to do with hitting the power button anyway.

Make sure fastboot is unchecked when you check usb debugging too! Found that out after the downgrade.

very welcome, please share with me where you got lost so maybe i can refine this

After I skipped through the setup. I think I had to hit a key to continue. Command line said wait while things are deleted, it may take time. Then it said done or successful in reference to deleting things. Then that I should reboot. So I hit the power button but that made the phone look for up the zip again. I was supposed to scroll down and select reboot I presume.

Anyways, that sounds pretty jumbled because I couldn't remember exactly. Regardless, I started the process over, didn't select #1 and after a few minutes I was rooted.

I didn't have any issues, but this kind of sounds like what I was referring to in my previous post.(the one where I thought people might possibly get screwed up on).

The above previous post's I made. I am betting he did what I was mentioning. Unfortunately, I can't remember which spot along the way it was either. I guess we should have wrote it down, and helped further refine the process.
