might this be it?

Press the volume up button to say yes.
echo * Once you do, you will see a progress bar in the upper right corner
echo * and a bunch of stuff going on in the middle.Be Patient and let it do its thing.
echo * Press power to reboot.
echo * It might actually power down (vs. reboot) at this step.

What are the prompted directions like? Is it a simple process?

I have experience flashing roms on a Droidx, but just used z4 to root that device, which was a pure 1-click process.

Not sure. It's not quite ringing a bell. Can you post a log file of all the wording in the instructions? (Not sure if you would call it a log file)

I have them maybe I need to extract them?

EDIT: Apparently I'm missing the file "then".

I'll try again if that doesn't work then I'm waiting for a one click root method like unrevoked or z4.

Man ur awesome! UR the best adviser ever! Great job on this root process. :D Thumbs up to everyone who contributed! Thanks for the one on one help.:D

I was able to successfully root my 1st T-bolt using this same method. Well I got a replacement T-bolt this past saturday & followed the same process and been having an issue. Everytime I get to the end of Step 2 after the screen shows ' MECHA XD ENG S-OFF ' it updates and right before it finishes to the point where it says Update Complete & restart, My device flashes off and comes back on changing back to "S-ON". A few times it wouldnt even show "S-Off" It would flash from S-On to S-On. I have repeated the process in excess of 7-10 times and the same result. Any Ideas?

so you are able to downgrade but then you are unable to upgrade again?

It appears to be the problem, I was using the identical method like this one and it would show S-Off and start the updating process, then in the middle of updating, my screen always flashes and S-Off is back saying S-On. With this new process It gets to that step and attempts to flash S-Off, but instead it flashes S-On twice & does not even allow S-Off to even show up like the other method. Could it be newer files maybe from htc preventing it from being rooted with this round of t-bolts?
