So while trying to do this root method the program just quits while pushing the RUU. It will go for about 2 minutes then just exit on its own

Hey guys, Im trying to root my tbolt using this auto root method. I download all of the files, but when it comes up with list of devises and is supposed to show my serial number, nothing shows up. I installed HTC Sync and Sync wont recognize my tbolt either. I am on a laptop and I have tried every USB port. I am running windows vista 64 bit. I have tried downloading Sync from a bunch of different sources and I have restarted phone and computer multiple times and I just cant get my computer to recognize my phone. I can access the SD card and the autorun folder that installs the verizon media manager, but sync wont recognize it and the auto root program wont recognize it. I have USB debugging enabled, stay awake enabled, and charge only on. I have followed the directions to a t. any suggestions?

had to zip everything up, transfer over to a desktop & run it. worked like a charm

Thanks for the tip. My SN isnt showing up on my computer. I am also on a laptop, but I dont have a desktop computer that I can try.

did you also download the android sdk with all of the Java requirements?
just canceling out possible factors, here

Android SDK Installer with HTC Sync and Java v3.0 - 117 MB

Android SDK Installer with HTC Sync and Java v3.0 - 117 MB
[Prerequisite to Rooting] Android SDK Installer - v3.0 for Windows - xda-developers

i downloaded this & it was the complete package to get the process going.

I will try and download this when I get home. Thanks for the help.

Try putting it in sync mode instead of charge only and see if it shows the serial number but don't run the program

SDK shouldn't make a difference since the files needed are included on this application.

I will try that when I get home. I tried putting it in sync mode to see if HTC Sync would recognize it but it didnt. If all else fails, I will use my buddies desktop. Thanks for all the suggestions guys.

So I used my buddies desktop computer and it worked like a charm. I am now rooted and running the Tesla Coil ROM. Thank you for your awesome guide and program.

need a bit of help. got to the fastboot screen. selected fastboot and it did the image check. i get these errors:

"sd checking... loading... PG05IMG.ZIP (NO IMAGE OR WRONG IMAGE!)" and i'm forced to factory reset...

what am i doing wrong here?

**going for a 3rd try right now...**

i didn't place anything. i let the program run itself. when i did the factory reset, i checked the sd card and the zip file wasn't in any folders it was on the card itself.

hopefully i'm not a tard and was supposed to place the file there BEFORE i started...

are you using MR1 autoroot? or the older one?

MR1 autoroot. just tried for a 3rd time... just did another factory reset and i keep getting the same problem.
