still doing the same thing..... anyone have any solutions?

it shouldnt even let you reboot unless it sees the image there, how long does it hang searching for the image?.....actually boot your phone regular and see if the pg05img is on the card

it takes about 3 seconds to check and goes straight back to the bootloader screen again. i then choose factory reset. it goes back to factory settings, skip all the crap about setting up the phone, go into disk mode and PG05IMG.ZIP is on the SD card. not in any folder. directly on the card.

i do the steps all over again from the start and when it goes to the bootloader, i choose fastboot and it checks the PG05IMG and tells me "sd checking... loading... PG05IMG.ZIP (NO IMAGE OR WRONG IMAGE!)"

and i keep going in a circle with that error and the factory resets. :-/

You are suppose to select bootloader

yeah, i choose bootloader first, then select fastboot, it checks for 3 seconds total and i keep getting that error over and over and over. -_-

is this file for the auto-root actually 800+ megs or am i unknowingly downloading a virus? lol

The rooting process requires two different firmware flashes both are included in the download. Thats why its so large

2 questions that i probably should have asked before i began this whole process (which is running as i type this)

1- does this root with s-on or s-off? (im not sure what the diff is... i'm an experienced samsung rooter, new to HTC) if it is s-on how do i make it s-off??? (need s-off for the rom i want to install)

2- do i need to use the MR1 updated version? i started downloading it then remembered i had previously downloaded the TB_auto_root file, but before the MR1 update. will that make a difference in the functionality of my phone or will it be okay to go without?

Traumahawk my friend, how are you , sad to see you switch over to HTC though lol....

1-S-on means security on, S-off is the inverse.

this will leave your phone to S-off

2-if you want to have the MR1 update yes you need the MR1 root, if you are not using it and you are only half way through you can still go back and use it...

the way rooting goes for the TB is that first you trick the phone into thinking it is using old firmware so that it allows you to flash a rom that has security off. then after you flash the older rom that has security off you then flash the newer rom that is updated and rooted.

I <3'd my epic but couldnt stand Sprint any longer. It was sad parting with that phone. Love my TB though. Very fast, and i'm finally willing to root it (which is proving to be much more involved than using ODIN on my epic... glad all my theming practice taught me how to use ADB haha) Once I learn a little lot more about the thunderbolt i'll try to do some theming and helping other people with it like I was on the Epic. I miss all my friends over on the Epic forums :(

are there any benefits to that MR1 update that are worth using the newer file and re-rooting it, or can i just run with the last version and call it good? (if MR1 is the update that came OTA a while ago it has caused my phone to restart all the time and I really dont care to have it back on there after I root haha)

not sure i never used it i got rid of that brick and got a charge before i used the update. but if you didnt care for the update then the olderversion should be fine.

"that brick" haha. i resent that remark >.< whats so bad about it? and why is charge so much better? i like my TB, probably more at this point than i liked my epic

lol i had a laundry list of complaints i wont list them because it gets me in trouble in the TB forums lol

Ill tell you what I like about the Charge,
Lighter
Faster
better screen i can use it in the sunlight with no problems
no random reboots
rooting is so much easier, i didnt need to spend 4 weeks writing a auto root for it like i did for the TB
i just love it much better.
people complain about lag but once TWlauncher is gone its racerX

it is a nice looking phone......

i;ll have to look on craigslist >.< get myself a new phone to play with.

is it on vz?

Oh wow, I wish this was around when I did my first root. jcase made some great steps, but having JUST got my first Android ever and not knowing a damn thing about ADB (let alone that it existed!), going through the steps were a bit overwhelming. Finally getting down to where I'm risking it and modding my phone, amongst other things. Definitely getting this in case I ever want to go from Rooted to Non-Rooted, and back for any reason!
