i think its a problem with service pack 3 but would you allow me to screen share with you to check some stuff out?

Ok 3rd step either failes to take or I missed something. SU doesn't work. Root explorer has no r/w option yet. Is it safe to just go back to step 3 if I have already loaded all my apps or should I just flash the SU in bootloader? CW doesn't get installed here does it?

Good question, I'm not sure. According to the instructions, people should start off from where ever it fails I believe. Though, you are already booted up now.

download titanium backup , hit the problems button , get busybox update. then reboot the phone

Intalled drivers every time

really HTC sync didnt take care of that?

when it went to bootloader were you unplugging the phone?

No it didn't. I thought it was stange too but once i clicked "no" on the install drivers screen for boot strap and your cmd prompt could recognize the phone. So, I unplugged and replugged the phone and clicked "yes" to install the divers again and it continued on without a problem.

I think it is failing to complete step 2. It won't give root after the upgrade? Seems like it fails to connect after each step.

Got to Market and get Rom Manager to install Clockworkmod. I did.

Also, what operating system, 32/64 bit are you running and service packs?

It's vista 32 bit. It was the hang between steps that was causing it. It gave su permission after I just repeated steps twice b4 moving to the next. Go figure! I did notice that during the downgrade and upgrade that some files did not load. Think it was just being a stubborn TB. Thanks for the root!!!

I rooted the manual long way with the 9 steps. Can I unroot with your auto unroot method?

WORKED PERFECTLY!!! I was on my laptop, I did have to go through 3 USB ports until I found the USB 2.0 port. After that, it was smooth sailing.
