Im trying to use this method to root and i have htc sync setup and it connects fine when you put in htc snyc not charge only when i try to run it in charge only it doesn't find device any help is greatly apperciated

is debugging mode and stay awake checked off, have you tried different ports?

yeah debugging is enabled along with stay awake and yeah ive tried both ports but its on a hp laptop so it is could be computer but the sync is installed so i was wandering if there was something i was missing cause i saw in earlier posts about laptops being problematic. I've tried setting up adb to do it the manual way nut never was succussful with it and i stumbled on this thread thought i would give it a shot and still no go

I did a windows update and I am still getting the same issues. When it is pushing the files to my phone, nothing happens and after about 5 mins the program shuts down. Not really sure what I am doing wrong here.

Connection is connection doesnt matter what type of method you try if you can not get the phone recognized they will all act the same

I was doing step one and it push the file fine and for some reason I hit enter and cmd quit. What do i do now? start step one again or step 2?

start from step one unless you downgraded from the HTC bootloader, so anything before that is option 1, anything after that is option 2

pushing means it transfers the file from your computer to your phone, in this case the SD card,,, after that it will push a couple more files, and yes i check for the connection several times during this process and you should see your serial number

after it reboots it will go right into setup wizard

okay got it. you said make sure its in "charge only" should i check always on and usb debugger also like at the beginning of step one b4 i hit enter?
