[Automated] Wug's Nexus Root Toolkit v1.6.2 (Updated 12/29/12)

All good mate! After MUCH pain I got the drivers installed (why did I never think to do a simple reboot, fixes so many things!) and the rest of the program worked flawlessly.

Now finally on yakju and 4.0.2 :)

That's great to hear! Yeah, drivers are just a pain on windows, If I could automate in a better way I would.. I am looking into figuring out how to make a driver installer with dpinst but I am having difficulties. I am pretty certain that's how Samsung made their installer though, so if they can't figure out how to do it without the manual step, then I am probably out of luck.. lol. Gotta love it when a problem is resolved with a simple reboot though! Cheers mate! Enjoy!

You shouldn't have battery pulled. It can take up to 10 minutes to boot up. That said, you can fix it. Boot into bootloader and start the flash stock + unroot. Download the stock package... Then select no when it asks if you see an adb device. Then choose the option to start it from bootloader mode. It will bring you back to factory.

Hey Wug thanks for the reply! i followed your steps but as it was going through the flashing process it said everything failed...then said it was going to reboot and look like it was bootlooping but just stayed at the fast boot screen like nothing ever happen...so i hit start and it tried to reboot but is still stuck at the google logo....

UPDATE NEVERMIND!!!!! i had locked it again somehow and that is why it did that, so i just ran unlock again then flashed back to stock then went through the steps again and BOOM! Im good to go... THANK YOU for this wonderful program! im coming from a D1 which i had forever and i need to be able to run custom....sorry if i seemed like a newbie

Also one other question now that it up and running its asking for a system update...can i do it and not lose root? cause i remember on the D1 you would lose it...Let me know please Thanks!

Does anyone know if we can system update without losing root?

Nice! Thats great! Glad it worked well for you. Typically system updates won't work when you have clockworkmod recovery on there. You might want to just use the flash to recovery button to flash the stock recovery. Or you could use the 4.0.4 all in one zip that just got released. Yes, updating overwrites the system partition and superuser is a system app. So you would have to reroot.. but that can easily be accomplished with my toolkit. Hope that helps, and sorry for the delayed response. Its been a tough week at school for me.. lots of tests.

Wug,

First off lemme say thanks for this man..big big help!

Now, I am having an issue with root...I can unlock the phone and it is as we speak, but when I went to install Ti Backup it told me that I am not rooted..also checked with root checker from market and it says i am not rooted, yet I have SU in drawer..I followed the steps, is there something to try?

All other installs went just fine and maybe it is rooted and I just didnt do something in the SU app?

Thanks

Just did some reading

IF YOU UPGRADED TO 4.04 YOU NEED THE SU FILE FROM THIS THREAD:

Great job on this tool Wug!

Is there any way to restore a single APK from the .ab backup file your tool makes? I only really want to restore a couple apps. Thanks!

Ok, excellent toolkit, instructions and thread (thank you, Wug!) but I have one question.

I rooted a few nights ago using your toolkit and things went very smoothly, or so I thought, system up and running and seemingly fully functional. Now for the problem:

While rebooting the phone last night I noticed that during the boot process a window opens that says "Android is upgrading...Optimizing application x of 53." Since then I have tried rebooting several times and each time this window appears and seems to complete it's task, but yet it starts again at the next reboot. Any thoughts as to what's going on and how to correct it?

Thanks!

You also could try opening superuser and using the built in updater.

No unfortunately its a batch operation. Selective restores are not possible from an ab file as far as I know. Selective backups and restores can be accomplished with apps like TiBackup which backup apps and data into individual tgz packages. The ab file is just one data file.

Unlocking and rooting does not modify your device in any way other than open it to the possibly of modifications that could otherwise not be made. Your problem therefore is not related to rooting itself.. it derives from something you did afterwards (either that or it's an anomaly). Try and backtrack everything you did after rooting, and maybe then you can figure out the source of your problem.. did you flash a ROM, a mod, ect..? If you can't figure out the source of your problem you could always Flash stock and start fresh. The msg you are getting sounds like something you would see after taking an OTA? Did you do that? If so the source of your problem is most likely due to the fact that you have CWM recovery in place of the stock recovery which is needed to successfully take an OTA. That's just a guess. Either that or you flashed a ROM, mod, or gave a root app permissions to attempt to zipalign your apps on every boot... and its getting hung on 53 for some reason. Hope that helps...

Re: [Automated] Wug's Galaxy Nexus Root Toolkit v1.3 (Updated 1/2

Quick noob question!!
Can I just unlock my boot loader with this? :) Sorry, first time.

Re: [Automated] Wug's Galaxy Nexus Root Toolkit v1.3 (Updated 1/2

Question: My bootloader is still locked but I would like to flash the leaked OTA 4.0.4. Will using this tool allow me to unlock and then flash the leaked OTA as is? I thought i read somewhere that you have to use stock recovery in order to flash the leaked OTA but I cannot seem to find where i read that.
