Available Now: Droid X 2.3.340 Update Discussion (Not Gingerbread!)

For those who HAVE received the update successfully, report all positives and negatives associated with it.

The only negative I have seen is the Madden 11 app. It is pretty gay and can't be uninstalled like you could the NFS Shift game when we got Froyo.

I haven't had the battery manager force close on me yet, so I guess they fixed that bug. I never had bug issues with the stock music player or Wi-fi so i can't speak to those. I also haven't gotten many texts yet to see if they fixed the bug which didn't always display the newest unread text on top, but that one didn't really plague my DX much either. It seems like a pretty smooth update so far, but again, I never had major issues with 2.2....just an occasional force close on the battery manager.

I really like the new dialer search feature that I mentioned above. That is pretty slick!

I've been checking on WiFi and without both with and without power cycles and am convinced that it is now offline and not available at this time. Looks like I missed the magic window early this am when it was available.

2nd the request for those who got the thing to continue to post info. about what they see thus far.

Vibrate Pitch

The vibrate pitch seems to have changed a little bit with the new update. Pitch variation...sounds a little bit like a baby monitor...Wow, intelligent first post, huh?

This is kind of weird too & I don't know if it is just the update or something I haven't noticed before, but I swear that the vibrate when an incoming call comes in is different. I don't remember it changing strength before. Since I got the update it sort of slowly becomes a stronger vibrate towards the end of the ring. I checked the settings screen and I don't notice a new option now that wasn't there before.

Unfortunately it's not up to us.
When it is available it will say "Update Available" or something like that. We just sit and wait like good little kids on Christmas morning...LOL.

For the people that updated already there will be a new update.zip file located @ their SD card root. that will be the 2.3.340 update.. share it!

I got the update around 2am this morning and don't see an update.zip file in the SD root or any other folder. I searched the entire SD card using Astro and got no hits on anything named update... it found some files named blur-updater in my Titanium backup folder but nothing else.

A sure fire way to force the download on all previous updates (including Froyo) was to connect to WiFi, leave it on, and then do a power cycle. On reboot, it always popped up or was subsequently available when you searched for it manually. That's not working, and both here/MotoX forums no one can report a successful DL since this morning. Its not available and has probably been pulled for the moment. When it comes back online however, you can definitely force the issue.

The update was only meant for the feedback network from what I read and somehow got slipped out to everyone so its since been pulled till the surveys are done. Again thats what I read

One more thing; if they wind up tweaking the DL in any way making a correction, those who DL'ed this morning should check their version to ensure they have the latest and greatest after it is re-released (whenever that will be).

Yes I am super digging this feature!! I love it. (the search dialer that is )

open the dialer, start spelling the name of the person and Up comes their name/number!! press and Viola!! you have their call going!!
