Available Now: Droid X 2.3.340 Update Discussion (Not Gingerbread!)

so far this thread seems to just be 35 pages of "im downloading now" or "it took me 10 minutes and i didn't lose the root". the update is out there on the forums, go get it and apply it. we need to start discussing the problems and upgrades on here.

lmao , haha :D ..... but there probably be other threads started about specific things once more people have the new update ;)

now 36 pages tho :p

I updated manually yesterday. Z4 root, no problems, unrooted first. I am noticing a lot better battery life. I charged yesterday afternoon and left off the charger all night and still 70%. Also everything is a lot snappier. I like the new contact number lookup also. I don't use exchange so can't comment on that. My phone did a lot of weird little things after froyo but now seems ok.

How do you do a full 2.3.15 sbf? Sounds like what I need to do.

A week ago when I bricked my dx and was stuck on the "M" page this is how I reflashed by following the guide in this forum , , I followed the guide Exactly... read it and understand it first :) , got my tools re-read checked out(the guide) as I went along worked perfect for me , I had already rooted before getting the update yesterday afternoon , I staid rooted just made sure none of my programs was froze , had to run the Z4root app again after updating to the 2.3.340.

update
as mentioned in another post to,, I did not unroot(z4root) , but after the update I did loose root because my "shoot me " app no longer worked . I did not select the reroot option on my z4root app, instead I just clicked on perm. root option , and rooted again. After that all is back 100% rooted again :)

Keep getting update failures. Do I need to "back to stock" my deodex before the upgrade? I also tried to unroot with z4 but it didn't take.

Should I un-deodex, or back to my original bootstrap backup or sbf to 2.2.

Thanks

Tried the update but keep getting a 'not successful' message. Rooted, that's all. No custom roms, etc. Anyone have any ideas? Have tried it several times with the same result.

Just successfully updated here in Chicago, took less than 10 min without WiFi.
No issues so far...

Does anyone know what the exclamation point in the triangle means when you're trying to install the update and fails? How do you fix it?

same problem here.. Really frustrating!!!

Can't see the update. I unchecked sync over wifi and it still can't find it. Never rooted.

So this update that Motorola finally push out is EXACTLY what was sent out a couple of nights ago right? The same one that was hosted as the "update.zip" that people downloaded and installed manually?

Quick update to past thread...still running smoothly with no problems yet. Everything seems just a little snappier! Maybe it's because I HAVEN'T messed with the phone and waited for the official OTA!

Can someone please tell me what I can do to get my phone to reroot. No matter what I do it won't work and I have been trying since last night. I have enabled and disabled debugging as well as did several battery pulls.

Please help!

Wow this update is awesome! I'm not rooted and didn't have any problem downloading and installing. This update has made the phone much snappier. The memory management is significantly improved. With 2.1 the phone was snappy, then with 2.2 there was some significant memory usage management loss... all is fixed now though and the phone is as snappy a it was in 2.1. All this is very subtle of course but much appreciated!
