read page 19-20 (maybe more just got done with page 20) for a bunch of prima donna whiners with no life.

Ive wanted a nexus since day one. Still rocking an original droid. no interest in anything other than stock.

but these comments are pathetic.
-cancel verizon for trying to perfect a phone by INTERNALLY changing dates? they didnt give you a date for a reason, yet you still complain. shut up.

- ask for PROOF from a mod that owns/runs the damn website? get real the gentleman knows folks that MAY know info that could very well come true, TO HELP on shedding light nothing more.

- Im done with android after this "debacle" im going to an iphone. go die. no one cares about your complaining of a 6year old. lets not forget the iphone took YEARS to come out on this carrier, but again in their defense was never OFFICIALLY announced. we are talking about POTENTIALLY less than ONE MONTH of "delay" when a date was never officially announced. shut up. grow up. stop making this community look more pathetic by the minute.

and the last thing I will leave you with... YOURE GONNA GET THE PHONE ANYWAY. if you had any ounce of intellect in you, cancelling verizon is NOT gonna happen. because they havent done anything wrong.

and lets say worst case scenario it is over an app or two verizon wants on the phone...whats the harm in that? I never understood that to begin with. Did you guys not see the SPRINT NEXUS S? were talking about what 2-3 apps from verizon that CAN BE VERY HELPFUL TO MOST. backup assistant is nice to have. seeing my verizon bill is beneficial. I dont need either but thats fine, I can ignore them, or hide them, or uninstall them with some time IF I CARE THAT MUCH.

This is a GALAXY with verizons 4gLTE coming out. Possibly the best smartphone ever made to this day and the exaggeration in complaints coming from you donkeys is astounding.

In Summary:

:mad:GROW UP OR SHUT UP:mad:

See a doctor.

All you people threatening to leave VZW because of this are FULL of IT! You remind of all my friends who flew with XYZ airline, had a horrible experience, swore never to use XYZ again and the next time they fly they go with XYZ airline because it had the cheapest fares.

Most of us are with Verizon because they have the best Voice coverage (bar none, except a very few rural areas where some other carrier may be better), or you want Verizon LTE, you want reliable (not necessarily fast) 3G. Even if everyone on this forum on VZW left I don't think VZW would even notice. Remember, this is a phone that has not even had an announced official release date so it can't be late. If there are some issues with the phone (even if it's MyVerizon or Backup Assistant) then it's VZW's prerogative to hold back the phone until it's ready. If VZW doesn't want to cannibalize it's Razr and Rezound sales that is also up to them. Feel free to go to TMo, ATT, or Sprint because they're cheaper or have a phone you want. I'm still with Mickey Pappilon's 90% rule - carrier first where it works 90% of the time and then pick a phone and a plan.

Personally, I am EXCITED about Verizon have THREE top notch phones ALL at ONCE (it always seemed the other carriers got better phones). If you don't want to wait buy a GNex unlocked from an overseas vendor and go to TMo or ATT. I am more than willing to wait for the GNex before I make a final decision. Grow up people - you're adults -start acting like one.

So by switching carriers and voicing with their wallets that is acting childish? That is too funny. People can leave for whatever reason they want it is their money. To tell them to grow up is laughable. You must be one who likes getting nickel and dimed for everything and just accepts it.

This is definitely getting frustrating. Especially if it's just over Backup Assistant. An app I don't use keeping me from getting a phone sucks lol.

So does the addition of this Verizon crapware slow the updates? I understand they aren't skinning the OS, but will Verizon have to tweak these apps before future OS version updates get pushed to this kind-of-Nexus device?

Yes. Hopefully very little, but Verizon will have to test and approve.

Good god I cannot believe what I am hearing in this thread....

I'm referring to Verizon wanting to delay the launch because of their software not working with the phone.

Dear Verizon,

The first thing I'm going to do is remove YOUR software from my device. I'm sure I speak for the majority of future GN users. So please, do not delay this launch on account of your needless software. It shouldn't be on there anyway.

Seriously this is just awful, I'm tired of waiting. It's beyond ridiculous to hold back a device because of carrier software not working. Something, which none of us want on there.

How can we tell Verizon this? Do we Tweet or Facebook them? How can we tell them that we don't care about your software on our Nexus phone? I don't care if they wont' listen, I just wish as a community we can show how we feel about the ridiculousness of this situation.

Google should put their foot down and tell them to omit those apps until they can get them to work correctly, then OTA. Again, I'm not sure if that's the only issue, but if it is? It's extremely stupid.

I actually heard differently. Google bakes the two bloatware apps onto the ROM for Verizon and then pushes it out themselves.

Not necessarily, all verizon would have to do is update the 2 apps if they no longer were compatible with the update which is most likely not the case 99% of the time.

i wonder how much business Verizon will actually lose because of the delay...... I'm guessing most people on this board who are fired up and threatening to leave Verizon or not give them their business will not follow through. I know i'm extremely frustrated, but i have Sprint which sucks in my area, so i don't really have any other choice but to wait for the Galaxy Nexus.

If i lived in say Philadelphia (Sprint 4g has been pretty good when i visited), i would definitely be rocking an Evo 3d instead of the Galaxy Nexus.

I am sure it has something to do with the razr and rezound not selling that well. Typical verizon bs.

I dunno. My Verizon and Backup Assistant are pretty key components of the Verizon system, even for a "stock" phone. I can see Verizon wanting to make sure these work before releasing the thing. Half the posters here may be chomping at the bit to root and rom the thing on day one, but the other half and most of the public which will be buying it are probably regular customers that are also going to want to check their balance and minutes and backup their stuff after purchase (i.e. actually use it as a -phone-).

That said, it's a little baffling to me that (a) they just now noticed they are not working (that wasn't said explicitly but it's a fair assumption), and (b) that it would take more than 24 hours to fix once they realized that they were broken, unless there is some deeper issue in the OS that needs addressing.

This has been the second unconfirmed rumor thread that leads to digital blue b@ll$. Epic fail.

when my mom recently got a new iphone 4s coming off a blackberry bold, it was super easy transferring her contacts. She doesn't use gmail so that wasn't a choice, but i kind of understand Verizon wanting this transfer program working on it before it gets released. Not everyone is a tech savy and stays up to date on the newest release info so, although i don't agree with a delay, they are looking out for all their customers with this.

Imagine not having a way to sync a few hundred contacts and had to manually enter them. Talk about suicide watch

I just posted a comment on their FB page "It should would be nice for you to announce a release date for the Galaxy Nexus..."

They deleted it in less than a minute. LOL

Gherkin, these software are not essential to phone operation and as such to delay a highly anticipated phone and annoy customers to the point of no longer doing business with a company is a bad move, however you want to look at it. My verizon is a nice option to access your usage on the go, but you can literally do anything from #BAL, #MIN, #DATA and get this same info. Backup Assistant has a plethora of 3rd party or built in alternatives. At the end of the day, I refuse to allow ALL my phone numbers, contacts, and pictures to be on some verizon server. Moreso than ease its about security, cloud computing is not secure (well regular computer sure as hell isn't secure even w/ AV, firewal, etc, etc so both points are moot http://cryptogon.com/?p=25277). These are not essential apps and to delay this highly anticipated phone longer is a bad move, one more broken straw in my pile of broken vzw straws....I'm running low on straws.

Which Verizon must approve before it's pushed out. Don't think for a minute that Verizon will allow anyone to re-distribute their software without approval.

Having them baked into the ROM brings up a new issue -- it's no longer a fully open source software phone. I don't even want to go down that road, my nerves can't take it.

They could probably write a bran new app by 12/8. Why would tweaking one thing take so long?

Agree. Most likely it is something to do with razr and rezound sales. They should be able to tweak the app to work in a few days maybe a week tops. I mean what is verizon paying these people for if it takes them 3 weeks to tweak an app?
