I really don't wanna say it but I'm seriously considering NOT buying this phone just to say EFFF YOU VERIZON . If enough customers said EFFF YOU VERIZON in this fashion they might think about changing their business practices.

And they also may never get a nexus again if you do that.
 
So wtf!!!! Is the phone coming out on Monday or not. I do not feel like reading all the pages again. I saw where Phil said he had a source that said Monday and now what is all the garbage talk about December? I talked to two of the phone reps and both said they trained on the Nexus on Wednesday and that is what a sweet phone. The one I spoke with today actually said they would be shocked if it does not come out next week. I have been waiting for a Nexus since the Nexus One was suppose to come out for Verizon. I am just tired of it and want my Nexus.

Phil should edit his first post for those who skip the middle, but in essence there is technical difficulties with some VZW specific software (MyVZW and VZWBackUp from my understanding). Two softwares that need not be on there with full web browsing capabilities and the many backup methods available STANDARD (i.e. e-mail contact sync, etc) or through Apps.

I've considered switching to sprint plenty of times. My voice speaks, and so if VZW doesn't want me as a customer any longer they can continue their business practices that affect me as a customer. It is really simple, VZW needs us customers, I sure as hell don't need VZW.

Conversation today probably went something like this:

Verizon tester #1: Hey would you look at this. Back up assistant isn't working.

Verizon tester #2: Really? I Hadn't noticed. I don't use that crap.

Verizon tester #1:You know none of us do, but i hit the widget by mistake trying to get to my "music widget".

Sound plausible to anyone else?
 
So if it isn't coming monday shouldn't this thread be closed since Phil even said they are having "technical software problems"
 
So does the addition of this Verizon crapware slow the updates? I understand they aren't skinning the OS, but will Verizon have to tweak these apps before future OS version updates get pushed to this kind-of-Nexus device?
 
I still plan on getting the phone but I'm not going to be checking in here as much as I have been (no need really...I'll just keep tabs on twitter).

Oh well, c'est la vie!

PHIL: Is there any chance Google will pressure Verizon this weekend to fix the problem so they can still open up orders Monday? I mean, Google MUST want this thing available for Black Friday...

i think we all need to just let go and dismiss the idea of having it launch (online or in stores) on the 21st. let it go. lol...

it hurts but...it'll hurt more if you don't, cuz december 8th is a good three weeks away
 
I'm done with the forums, when the phone is announced there will be headlines on all the tech sites without having to comb through this everyday. Total glass case of emotions here.
 
I was just forced to call customer service and complain and rant......I know it gets me nowhere but it did feel good to release my frustration on a poor unsuspecting and mostly clueless verizon employee.....try it, its freeing.......for a moment.
 
why cant we as the consumer make the choice for this POS addon software to be installed on our phones..? i mean there is a stupidly high amount of other avenues that VZW can take such that the device can be sold "now" and the update to their software can be made in the coming weeks, right?

in fact if the software never worked at all because of ICS or whatever I would be happy. cut your losses VZW, and make your super-eager pending customers happy already...

read page 19-20 (maybe more just got done with page 20) for a bunch of prima donna whiners with no life.

Ive wanted a nexus since day one. Still rocking an original droid. no interest in anything other than stock.

but these comments are pathetic.
-cancel verizon for trying to perfect a phone by INTERNALLY changing dates? they didnt give you a date for a reason, yet you still complain. shut up.

- ask for PROOF from a mod that owns/runs the damn website? get real the gentleman knows folks that MAY know info that could very well come true, TO HELP on shedding light nothing more.

- Im done with android after this "debacle" im going to an iphone. go die. no one cares about your complaining of a 6year old. lets not forget the iphone took YEARS to come out on this carrier, but again in their defense was never OFFICIALLY announced. we are talking about POTENTIALLY less than ONE MONTH of "delay" when a date was never officially announced. shut up. grow up. stop making this community look more pathetic by the minute.

and the last thing I will leave you with... YOURE GONNA GET THE PHONE ANYWAY. if you had any ounce of intellect in you, cancelling verizon is NOT gonna happen. because they havent done anything wrong.

and lets say worst case scenario it is over an app or two verizon wants on the phone...whats the harm in that? I never understood that to begin with. Did you guys not see the SPRINT NEXUS S? were talking about what 2-3 apps from verizon that CAN BE VERY HELPFUL TO MOST. backup assistant is nice to have. seeing my verizon bill is beneficial. I dont need either but thats fine, I can ignore them, or hide them, or uninstall them with some time IF I CARE THAT MUCH.

This is a GALAXY with verizons 4gLTE coming out. Possibly the best smartphone ever made to this day and the exaggeration in complaints coming from you donkeys is astounding.

I figured they'd try to sneak that in there so that you could use the NFL app and be able to use all the Vcast crap if you chose to download it.

You are whining as much as they are. But I agree except the things they are working on have nothing to do with software and just their 2 apps. Sorry those apps can be downloaded through the market and yes I use back up assistant, still doesn't change the fact they can fix the apps and put them in the market to update as soon as the phone arrives. But no verizon waits and waits.

Neither of those apps needed to come pre-loaded on the device. If that really is the only thing holding it back, they could omit those two apps initially, do further testing, and apply it an update. I'm sure Google would oblige.

As far as your little rant there, I have to laugh. If you believe for a second that this is just run-of-the-mill behavior from a carrier that people are just going to shrug off, you're dead wrong. This is an incredibly botched launch and I'm sure even they would admit that. If people don't feel like waiting for another almost month, then how is that stupid? CES is in January and there may be another phone that suits them coming out.

The thing is those two apps installed they probably don't make money on anyway. Just fix it and have an update in the market as soon as people get the phones. I use backup assistant and would install it anyway. This is getting ridiculous..

All you people threatening to leave VZW because of this are FULL of IT! You remind of all my friends who flew with XYZ airline, had a horrible experience, swore never to use XYZ again and the next time they fly they go with XYZ airline because it had the cheapest fares.

Most of us are with Verizon because they have the best Voice coverage (bar none, except a very few rural areas where some other carrier may be better), or you want Verizon LTE, you want reliable (not necessarily fast) 3G. Even if everyone on this forum on VZW left I don't think VZW would even notice. Remember, this is a phone that has not even had an announced official release date so it can't be late. If there are some issues with the phone (even if it's MyVerizon or Backup Assistant) then it's VZW's prerogative to hold back the phone until it's ready. If VZW doesn't want to cannibalize it's Razr and Rezound sales that is also up to them. Feel free to go to TMo, ATT, or Sprint because they're cheaper or have a phone you want. I'm still with Mickey Pappilon's 90% rule - carrier first where it works 90% of the time and then pick a phone and a plan.

Personally, I am EXCITED about Verizon have THREE top notch phones ALL at ONCE (it always seemed the other carriers got better phones). If you don't want to wait buy a GNex unlocked from an overseas vendor and go to TMo or ATT. I am more than willing to wait for the GNex before I make a final decision. Grow up people - you're adults -start acting like one.

Yeah I don't understand why VZW is so bound and determined to get these 2 apps on the phone. It's not something they make money on that I know of and the MyVerizon app you can already get from the market anyway. Just release the phone.
