i know there's already a thread about this but it seems like ti's from people who haven't had the phone yet. now that it's released, how is the battery life? what's the average people are getting? i got the edge and i'm really hating the edge part. it's interfering with one handed operation of the phone. i'm wanting to switch to the regular one so there's no "edge" crap to bother me. please bring me good news. >_<

I got an s7 yesterday for a friend on my account. I set it up and she played with the phone all evening. After charging it before giving it to her she had 3hrs of ost and just the playing u do w a new phone and was still at 62 percent. Thats not bad.

Its hard to judge battery life the first couple of days, but so far the s7 seemed liie it would be fine.

Battery life for me is hands down better than my S6. While at work I'm connected to my Android Wear watch, & my car both using Bluetooth & I'm getting 3 hrs SOT by the end of the day. Whereas with my S6 I was lucky to get 1.5 hrs.

I have had it since Wednesday and Thursday I got 16 hours with 4:30 sot , Friday at 19 hours with a few hours screen time didn't get to play with it much . both nights hitting the charger at 25% . today I have been gaming and have over two hours of gaming only lost 20%. So not bad if you ask me .

According to Gsam I'm averaging 15 hrs and around 4 hrs on screen time.

Edit: I will say I'm happy so far but I haven't been out on Lte or HSPA all day yet that will be the real test. I'm on wifi 80% of a normal day.

It's doing great for me, comparable to what my note 5 had

Been great. Averaging 5 hours SOT I've had it since monday. Been just as good as my nexus 6p.

Much better battery life than I was getting on my s6. I have them both side by side and the S6 drains faster. Same apps etc installed

i'm really on the fence for the S7(the edge is too big for me), the only reason for me would be the battery life,i'm not expecting wonders, the stand-by drain is good on the S6, but once i turn the screen on, it drains like hell (35-50% brightness), could you aproximate how much the regular S7 is better vs the S6 based on your usage? thanks

I would.say by 85% battery I already have around 1 hour 15 minutes of onscreen time which includes browsing Facebook, flipboard, and maybe 20 minutes or so of YouTube. It's really good on battery life. Much better then the s6

I think you need to delineate between those on the Exynos versus those on the SD820 (I think only the US phones have the SD820 but not sure). The later has some sort of bug that ramps Android System use and completely kills the battery. GSAM has me at 17hrs /2.5 SOT and I have the Verizon with the SD820.

The latest T-Mobile patch supposedly fixed it. Not sure about the latest at&t patch that was posted earlier this week.

Very true about how it depends on whether you have the Exynos or Snapdragon variants. Here's a good comparison (for S7 edge - presumably would be similar for S7):
Samsung Galaxy S7 edge battery life (Exynos and Snapdragon) - GSMArena blog

Exynos wins it easily. I'd be rather disappointed if I had the Snapdragon variant. Really don't understand why Samsung released the same phone with two different processors. Reading about performance comparisons between the two, they are overall about the same (with Snapdragon winning in some areas, while Exynos winning in others). Therefore, the Exynos version is clearly the superior one. Another advantage of the Exynos is the ability to root, if that's something you want.

The stated reason is that US versions use snapdragon for CDMA capability (Samsung isn't paying CDMA royalties for the Exynos). While this explains the Verizon and Sprint versions, it does not explain why AT&T and T-Mobile are also using the SD 820 version.

I jumped from s7edge to s7 flat ( at&t SD) and I'm very surprised and happy with battery life. Averaging 5-6 hours of sot with my normal use.

I'm continually impressed by the battery life of my S7. I can't seem to use it up even if I try!

This is like asking for average gas mileage. If you drive with the parking brake on it's going to be terrible.

Using the last ounce of energy in the battery continuously will kill the battery so fast that by the end of one week you'll notice a shorter battery life. Removing the charger the instant it shows 100% isn't fully charging the battery. Having the screen brightness turned all the way up, or running apps with a white background, also affect battery life. There are too many variables to compare phones, even of the same model. (Back when, everyone complained about the Note 3 battery. I got 4 days, from 100% to 40% [granted, with no screen, but that's still a long time]. I still get over a day's use of the now almost 3 year old battery. But it's ALWAYS charged when it drops to 40%.)

I'm a heavy user plus I work outdoors which auto brightness keeps the screen on high all the time which equals me charging a minimum of twice a day
