Awkward on /off

Hello there. Considering switch from BB to Droid. One thing I find annoying is the device on button location (on top). Are there any apps or device configurations that would allow me to switch the device on a different way?

On my DInc I'm using a custom rom that enables the optical joystick to wake the phone but you have to be rooted. I came from BB and had the same issue with the button for the first week and after awhile you won't even remember it ever bothered you. I'm much happier with Android then I ever was with BB and I never really disliked any of my BB. If you switch over you will be very satisfied.

Thank you, but I'm a newbie here. How do you get rooted? There is no trackball, so where is the optical joystick on the Pro? Is it easy to do?

How often are you power cycling the device? It's not a BB.

That said, I rarely had problems with my 8310.

The app "No Lock" (and I'm sure there are others) will let you do the same thing without being rooted.
