Badge handling is not working for some apps on Galaxy A32 5G

[Android Central Question]

I have badge notifications set to display at both the App and Phone level yet Gmail will not show unopened mail in badge and Outlook (tied to a different email account) has a badge that is "stuck" at 47, even though there are not 47 emails. I can clear the notification, but it jumps back. I have cleared the cache on the app, on the phone, and reinstalled Outlook, and it still stays at 47.

All the references I can find about badge notifications not working reference setting the notification setting. The settings are on, but the badges are messed up and I think it's likely the phone since one is a Google app and the other is a Microsoft app. Has anyone else seen this and found a way to clear/fix it?

Try force stop those apps by long pressing The icon then tap info then force stop

Thank you. I did the force stop via the Apps controls for Gmail and Outlook, and after stopping, started them up again and the badge issues remain. Not all badges on the phone have issues. Telegram has no trouble displaying the appropriate badges.
