Baked Snack Froyo EB13/EC05 "More Undisputed ;)"

Here's a random question: which kernal is the default when the ROM is flashed? I'm not sure which one kernal 2.6.32.9 is.

In that case, the answer is none. You need to flash the kernel after flashing the ROM. See /sdcard/a1bakedsauce after flashing for the kernel zips.

Ok. Thanks. I wasn't sure if there was one that was automatically put in place (like syndicate) or if I had to add to it. Was having issues with the install last night that I think I finally worked out, but didn't want to start messing with kernals then. From what I've been reading, the 1.28low seems to be the most popular, eh?

i was wondering, it looks like Hero updated only the 1.2low and 1.28low kernels for 2.3..... does that mean that those 2 are the best and most updated with his latest battery tweaks? i might still use 1.28lowest...

I think those were the only two that saw any update between 2.2 and 2.3. If you flash 2.2 in between, you get the rest of them (I found this out during my trials and errors last night)

right, the 2.3 zip only contains those 2 kernels....

If you're not going to overclock it doesn't matter. But if you are, try 1.28 - if you have no problems with lock ups, mazel tov. If you do have problems, then try 1.2.

Thinking of doing the same with genocide undervolt. Have you done the uv yet? Howlow were you able to go?

Yeah, I did the undervolting before I added any apps, haha. BE SURE to make a CWM backup especially if you run a ROM with journaling turned off- when you undervolt too far, you WILL have to battery pull to restart the phone. I started having force closes, but once I figured out what my phone could handle, I restored back to my CWM copy and set the values for Voltage Control.

My phone started out strong, but then went weak :( My values are as follows:
1000 Mhz= 50mv undervolt
800 Mhz= 50mv undervolt
600 Mhz= 50mv undervolt
400 Mhz= 50mv undervolt
200 Mhz= 150mv undervolt
100 Mhz= 150mv undervolt

Most people seem to have a more balanced total, though some cannot even undervolt 50mv at 200 and 100 steps. I have tried eliminating steps (400, 600) and undervolting higher, but I always get a freeze. If I raise 400Mhz or higher to even 75mv underclock, my phone immediately freezes. Perhaps its the rom (MidNIGHT BYOR v. 5.1) though.. I might try again running Syndicate..

I will say- this rom setup is completely smooth. Using launcher pro I have absolutely no lag anywhere (Midnight v5.1 w/ Genocide 1.0 + undervolting above). I dont know how as Syndicate and Baked Snack seem to be the ones trying to completely eliminate lag, but for me it just works...

Ok, since I'm already being a bit of a pest today, for the Baked Snack kernal (using the 1.2low) do I need to use something like voltage control to undervolt? Or is everyone using the settings as Hero has set them for this?

I'm not surprised the ROM is so smooth. I've been using Midnight since it began with DK28. I used to use Launcher Pro, but switched to GO launcher when I realized they were nearly identical, but free version of GO launcher allows widget resizing (a must to use the 5x5 grid and look good) while Launcher Pro requires paid app to do this (I know, I'm cheap). I use Midnight at 200 - 1000 conservative and get decent battery life, but not great. Obvious killer is that I have both work and personal email accounts and calendar constantly syncing in the background (not an option to reduce frequency).

I've read through the entire genocide thread (since 1.0 release on March 31) over the past couple of days and have seen several people's uv settings, so I plan to try out my own soon.

Since I have taken this so far off-topic from the BS thread, I will restate my original question to bring it back on-topic. I've heard from a few people that the BS kernels give better battery life than SFR or Bonsai kernels. Has anyone compared battery life on BS to an under-volted Genocide 1.0 kernel?

Undervolt is preconfigured - you don't need to do anything.

Not me, but I'd also be curious to hear a comparison.

where can i get only the kernel from?

Which kernel you referring to?

Baked Snack kernels? You have to become a member and then you will have access to them unless Hero releases them to the public which he usually does.

I'm doing a "try before you buy" with the 2.1 version from [link removed], and as mentioned before, the default browser is missing. Does anyone have an apk compatible with this release, or do I need to go to an alternative? Does 2.3 have the same issue?

Joined Hero's forum, ready to flash BS 2.3 but just want to be clear on what I need to go from BS 2.1 on EB13 EXT4 to BS 2.3 EC05... Obviously I need to flash 2.3 over 2.1 but I understand I also need to Odin the EC05 modem?? Does it matter what order I do this in and will installing the new modem wipe my data? I've read through EC05 update procedures, just want to be clear. No rush, got to buy a new laptop today (Sammy!), my HP is cooked.

Flashing a modem will not wipe your data.

BS 2.3 is still EB13 based so you will not be "switching" OS. His 1.2 LOW & 1.28 LOW kernels included with v2.3 are based on EC05 but thats only the KERNEL. The ROM is still EB13.
