BAMF 1.63/1.7 NTE incompatible with chess? SOLVED! (noobie mistake)

I recently rooted and flashed Das BAMF 1.7 NTE. The ROM is great and most programs work flawlessly. Among the ones that don't are four chess programs, Shredder Chess, DroidFish chess, Chess Free, and Chess Chess (the last three are free in case you want to try them). They all force close either when the program is loaded or when a chess game is started.

I then wiped all data and caches, flashed Das BAMF 1.6.3 NTE and tried Shredder chess again, but had the same FC. All these chess programs work fine using the stock ROM.

Any idea what could be causing this and what can be done about it?

Try fix permissions in rom manager, then reboot.

Thanks zero for the suggestion.

But I discovered the cause. It was Titanium restore with data (vaguely remembered seeing somewhere that it could cause problems). After uninstalling the programs that were force closing (chess programs plus another couple), and restoring with Titanium Backup without data, it's all good!
