Battery drain issue after 4.4.3

Factory reset seems to have worked for me. I'm getting 4 plus hours of screen on time and excellent standby. Usually drain maybe a percent an hour if that. It was worth the hassle of a factory reset in my case.

Kewl. But the big question is..... will it last?

Unplugged my phone from the charger overnight at 100% did not even use it and it dropped down to 98% in 20 minutes. When it does this I reboot the device and it is usually fine after but I am sick of having to reboot it every other day. I though 4.4.3 was going to fix this.

You all need to consider what apps you are running and which may not be playing nice with 4.4.3 or are simply battery hogs in any case.

But shouldn't those apps show up in the battery stats? My stats look like before 4.4.3 and battery life is worse.

Since the reboot my battery has only gone down 1% in 3 hours which is normal. Still don't understand why sometimes I unplug it from the charger I get 1% battery drain every 10 minutes that requires a reboot to fix. Don't tell me about the wipe cache partion I did that so many times I can't even remember.

100% is a lie. Most batteries charge up to 100%, then let the battery run off a bit before they start chanrging again, and if pulled off the charger before they've done so, will smooth out the transition to the correct battery percent.

That may not be your issue, but it would account for it.

Google services has been my main battery drain since I did the factory reset.

Really then why after I do a reboot my battery percentage standby is normal then.

My LG G Pad with 4.4.2 also lately uses more battery and it also has high "Android System". So maybe some bug in the latest Google Play Services and not in 4.4.3.

On T-Mobile, at least, yes, 1% every 3 hours of idle (no use) is about normal. But the issue you describe is not due to 4.4.3. I reported this months ago, long before this update. Mine will be fine for several days, sometimes weeks... then it will suddenly start doing the 20-25% drain after 9 hours of idle (which is about 7% per 3 hours). And it always shows Android and/or Google Services as what is using the battery and nothing will fix it but a reboot.... then it will be just fine again for several days or weeks.

I know and it is annoying. My Nexus 7 (2013) tablet can go weeks before it will do something like this but I usually reboot it every week anyway.

My wife's Nexus 5 with 4.4.3 does not have issues like this. Android System and Play Services are way down on the battery stats hit list.

We both have all location reporting stuff off, but the main difference is: I have Google Now on and she has it off.

Mine has always been off (both)... hasn't prevented the issue.

One week after 4.4.3, battery life has improved and has never been better inspite of having apps like K-9 noted for high battery use. The first week was bad battery drain probably due to background updates of gapps. My nexus 4 is smooth and responsive, never better since 4.1. I think it's even better then 4.1. Deep sleep after upgrading was 13-30% in the first week. Now it's in the 70+%. 4.4.3 has given my nexus 4 a new lease like s brand new phone. I can wait another 2 years to get a new phone. Google has done a great job. Can't wait for 4.4.4.
