Battery drain issue after 4.4.3

what carrier are you on? it looks like you only have 1 bar of signal. if your phone has to work and struggle all night to find a lock a cellular signal - it will burn battery.

Tmobile. You make a good point, only before the update it would drain to 95% overnight and not 75%.

I seem to have magically gone back to near normal battery usage without doing a factory reset. I've noticed most if not all the apps I have installed and used have updated. I'm thinking the dev's realized or were told there was something up and they've gone in and made the mod's needed to fix battery drain that may have been triggered by the OS update.

Anyway, at this point, I'm not having to do any radical changes to my phone.

Sorry; I couldn't resist. :)

I have a Nexus 7 and have no idea how to do your magic, clearing that cache. But would sure like to try. Since installing 4.4.3 my battery life took a dive even though after each use two app killers and verify that only unstoppable ones continue running... which include a small process of both Facebook and Messenger that have never caused grief in the past...

Past performance is no guarantee of future returns...;) Back a few pages http://forums.androidcentral.com/nexus-5-rooting-roms-hacks/352008-guide-nexus-5-recovery.html was a how too.

Regarding my battery drain on a Nexus 7 after installing 4.4.3, I tried the old Windows fixall, a simple restart, and the problem seems to have disappeared. And I've bookmarked that link to Nexus 5 Recovery!

Looks like I found the culprit. Poor LTE signal from Tmobile. So I lowered to 3G and now only 3% drain overnight.

For me it is acting the exact same way in 4.4.4 as 4.4.3 and 4.4.2. I can go days or longer with 3-4% every 9 hours of idle. But then, like today, it was off the charger and idle for only 3.5 hours and it consumed 6% of the battery. And most of that was Google Services again (although sometimes it is just "Android System"). So I rebooted.... and it will be OK again for days until it happens again. Very annoying. My #1 issue with the Nexus 5.

I got the 4.4.4 the other day. After installing, just to be safe, I did the cache clearing again. Things have been good for me. Everything seems to be back to normal of prior to 4.4.3.

I cleared the cache partition the moment the 4.4.4 install was complete. It didn't prevent the Google Services/Android System battery drain issue from reappearing.

Sorry you're having such a bad time with it. Hopefully, Android L will be a panacea for us all!

Re: Battery drain issue after 4.4.3(sudden full draining WHILE charging)

I too have a nexus 5. So this is also after 4.4.3 update. The battery drains out SUDDENLY , WHILE charging. WTF?..

the charger is connected and the full battery drains out..also the rate of charging is very veryy slow.
This has happened twice with me, I panicked thinking there is something wrong with the batter.
Any ideas what the solution??..apart from just wait for an update?

Huawei Ascend Y300.

100% charge when I left home this morning. 6 hours later, lost in Wales pulled the phone out and it is on 9%?
Two calls and the battery was totally dead, so couldn't even use the SatNav.
