Has anyone experienced this issue? I've seen some write ups on other sites that implies that it's an bug in the Samsung client software. I have a customer with this issue and trying to figure out if I can do anything to resolve it or not. Came to me saying the battery was dying quickly. I quickly realized that the Exchange account server was using 55% of the battery and looking at the data, accounted for over 400MB of data. This just isn't right. So I deleted the customer account, added mine and charged the battery back to 100% for testing. After adding my account, I checked the Running Apps and it still looks like it's using way too much. Exchange Services using over 25MB and Email around 40MB. Doesn't look like that on my Motorola RazrMaxxHD running the same Exchange email account. On my Razr its only 8MB on one and 7MB on the other. Something is wrong and I'm looking for suggestions. Should he return this thing or what?
I cannot believe this issue has gone on for over 2 years. Actually I can. My phone died on December 21st because of this issue, the phone was overheating like crazy everyday, every minute of every day because it was trying to access the wrong server address for my outlook.com account. The phone was always hot and the battery life was horrible to the point where I was using for batteries a day. They were cheap and I tried them in wall chargers but I didn't see coming what happened.
Slowly but surely I began to lose things. Eventually needed factory reset and what a pain in the neck that is. Then after the factory reset, under the clear blue sky I lost my calendar entries. Then I lost my email settings and I have to put them in again and I lost them again. There were times when I had a blue border around the screen but eventually went away or I hit something and the screen just expanded and eventually that will go away. My phone also was shutting itself off a few times a day.
So what happened? The phone got fried by all that access to the Exchange server because the server address is wrong. I didn't discover this until I bought an LG v10 once the note 2 died. It was getting very hot and battery life on standby, without me touching it, was four to five hours. On the lg v10 blog section I spoke to some people and they told me to look at the battery access report as you did and lo and behold the numbers were used for an account that I hardly used. It was up around 60% the battery life.
So I called LG and they gave me proper addresses to access the Exchange email servers. The change was instantaneous and the problem disappearing was instantaneous. The battery lasted forever in the phone but never had again except a little warm after charging.
Then I realized what has been going on with my note 2 for quite a long time. It was fried. I don't know how Samsung and AT&T didn't know about this. I believe it's their responsibility to watch these things for us and if Microsoft changing server addresses, push through updates so that when we set up an exchange account it goes in right. Its not like I set up an exchange account years ago. I was having trouble getting Word and Excel working on the phone and I killed and restarted that outlook.com account at least 5 times, using the automatic setup. So, below please find the posting that I put on to the LG v10 blog and I hope that helps you set up your Exchange email account, if you already haven't.

Very very very good news, there is a fix for the exchange accounts. I got onto tech support at LG and they sent me a link that had the way to fix it unfortunately it didn't have the whole fix. So I called them and they gave me the second part of it but they couldn't provide a link or something I could copy and paste.
first part you have to set up account as an IMAP account through the email add account. Not the Microsoft Exchange don't pick that. Then when you select I forgot what the selections were but you have to select instead of Microsoft Exchange when you get a choice you get Microsoft Exchange IMAP and POP 3 select IMAP again not Microsoft Exchange. Obviously it must be a manual setup.
Then in the incoming settings you have to put in IMAP-mail.*Outlook.com. select SSL for security and I believe the ports were correct once you select the SSL.
They said an upgrade is coming through but if you're having a problem this works now.
For outgoing, you have to change the server to SMTP-mail.*Outlook.com. . For security you have to select TLS (accept all certifications) or something like that and again the correct port will come in and that's basically it.
I did it and it work fine and the phone is as cool as a cucumber. And the email came right up. Isn't that something. What's strange about this is that it's a fix also for the g4, The Lancet, and something else I can't read, VK 815 I don't know what that is.
