battery drained after shut off

hello I have had my note 2 for two weeks, and I have been having issue with the phone shutting off. and I have a outter box case so I have to take the outter box off which really a pain. and take the battery out and put it back in battery was drained. it was at 60 percent before it shut off, but when I put the battery back in it was at 25 percent. so should I buy a new battery or is this a software issue.

what recovery
what version of the note ii, ie carrier and modle number like tmo sgh t889
