Battery life after about 2 weeks

Tonight's results. I'll be honest, I usually don't use my phone too heavy later on in the day cause that's when I'm searching forums, texting, and internet and not much else. But the standby time is great. I always feel confident I can leave my phone for a while and it'll barely drop anything.

Anything will be better than what I've got now! Granted, this was largely due to weaker cell reception, but still!!

ATTENTION: SPRINT GALAXY NEXUS

Jesus, did you turn off all the background sync and Google service?

The sad thing is I really liked this phone. It was quick and easy to hold but the battery life was just plain horrible. I had to disable everything just to get through half the day. I am usually out and about and don't always have access to a charger for long period to give it a quick top off. I can understand that Google had to minimize the cost but I should not have to neuter the phone to get through 5 to 6 hours stretch. I had good reception but on one weekend I had to go to edge to get it through the evening. I returned it because to me battery life is more important than an high def screen.

Sorry that didn't work out for you. What phone do you have now?

I've used mine for a few days now and I Def wouldn't recommend this as a primary driver if battery life is extremely important to you. Of course I'd say most smartphones on the market are bad in the battery section...However. ... For the huge portion of consumers who aren't power users, this phone is a top tier option.

Note 3 <Caesars>

I switched to the moto x and am very happy. It feels nice in the hand and it gets me through the day and I am by no means a power user and that is what was annoying. I did not play intense games or stream music. I have spotify but the music has been downloaded so it is all local. I only listened to it for like for a short period everyday. To me the nexus had everything a top of the line phone should have but specs don't mean much if the battery is dead. I am loving how I don't need to plan my day around charges with the moto x

not really sure, now, Moto X does has rundown time in battery test, buts its always listening feature makes for a bad standby device. GSMarena only rated it at 37hr endurance, slightly worse than Nexus 5.

The Moto X easily outperforms the Nexus 5 in battery life. That's only improved with 4.4, as well. Touchless Controls and Active Notifications are both extremely efficient for what they do. And no, I don't care about GSMarena and their tests; I own both devices.

let me put this way, "one person's experience" means nothing to a buyer.

the posts in this thread http://forums.androidcentral.com/moto-x/308529-moto-x-battery-life.html collective, prove gsmarena does a good job.

Rundown tests are a really silly way to test battery life, but okay. It's also no longer a valid test considering the Moto X is on 4.4 now. To each their own, though.

Rundown test is the most scientific way to do the job, which is why all major tech site conduct it. Claiming a "feeling" is ..... useless. If you have any scientific advice for a buyer to compare battery life which doesn't rely on "feeling", I am all ears.

unless I missed something, there is no change log of kikat which says it improves battery life by 20%, or anything like that. The battery life is largely still decided by the hardwares, I would not call the existing test "invalid".

How is using the device for weeks, using all the features it can offer, a "feeling"? Your vaunted rundown tests don't include using the camera. They don't include navigation. They're basically a rough guideline of what the battery can do using the screen, data, and the radio for calls. There's a reason why on this very site they don't use them in their reviews. What I do when I review a phone is the same; I use the device for a week minimum and put it through my normal usage. One to two of those days I push it harder than I normally would to see what the max screen on time I can get is. Most reviewers do the exact same thing because it gives you an actual usage case, not just what the phone can do if you watch a video for hours on end or have a 10+ hour phone call.

You can use that site as gospel if you want. I don't. Agree to disagree.

Exactly. And that is why people make threads like this so we can see what people's real world usage really is. I can read a sites generic tests and gain nothing from it. This thread is not meant for that.

Because your usage habit is completely different from the next guy, therefore your opinion provides next to nothing to those who are trying to decide between this and that phone.

You can provide as many feeling as you want, it still will not help anybody. All you are trying to convey is a defense for the phone, not an objective information for undecided buyers.

This site doesn't provide scientific tests, that's why this sites review is not taken as seriously as those who do.
