Battery Life Discussion

I ran a couple test on my Nexus and i was able to stream pandora, make phone calls, and some youtube and facebook, I was able to get a solid 7 hours one charge. this phone seems to have a better battery life than my lg optimus.

My battery life is decent. I've sent/received about 40 texts, 3 emails, 15 min of angry birds, a 10 min phone call, and some web browsing over a 4 hour period...dropped 13% in the time. 51% of that usage is from the display.

Display brightness is at mid point.
Screen timeout is 30 seconds.

GPS off...this one seemed to kill mine quickly when on.

Auto Sync is on. If my phone is on Idle, I drop maybe 1% an hour. maybe...

I turned off Google News/Weather's "auto-refresh".

My battery life isn't as good as my old TMobile Nexus S.

I do have 4G on all the time though, but my coverage is pretty decent.

Just downloaded Juice Defender, hopefully that'll help. It seems like mine is draining pretty quick, but when I plug it in to charge, it charges extremely fast. Much faster than any other smartphone I've ever had, so I guess that's kind of a plus.

Let me know how well Juice Defender works for you. I'm interested in the app. Right now I can't complain about my battery life.

Just took a exam and started at 80% now a hour and 15 minutes later I'm down to 60 percent. Lost 5% checking Facebook and reading through Tapatalk in 15 minutes. Guessing because I only had a bar of signal?

This did help improve my battery life.

After 9 hours of decent usage, I've only lost 36% of my battery.

I, too, am losing 6% or so of battery per hour while on *standby*. I have 4G turned off, and I am getting decent 3G signals. Since so many others are also having battery problems, I doubt that it is a defective unit. If I can't get it to improve in the next few days, I will have to return it. Nice phone, but the battery life makes it unusable as a daily phone.

When I use mine while plugged in, it discharges faster than it charges. Went down 2% in 20 minutes while websurfing. I'm going to try some more controlled experiments. Between the charging and screen issues I'm having, I may return for a new unit, or just return it to wait for evo 3d.

Did you have it plugged into a computer or wall socket?

now that is strange! my battery seems to be vary good but it also charges slow! way slower than my palm pre and still slower than the evo. I think you may have a bad battery. It takes me about 5 hours to charge my battery (wall charger) if I run it down to 10%

I think the reading is wrong, as the phone lasts longer than what the battery scale shows. I think its a bug otherwise the phone operates and lasts as long as advertised just the readings are weird. 15 mins after I unplug from charging at 100 it goes to 94% then an hour later it shows 92% and is slow the rest of the way. Strange

Otherwise I LOVE this phone!

My battery life is much better than my Evo's, no complains at all here.

I do take control of all background sync by keeping it to the minimun - the only one updating hourly is the weather on Beautiful Widget. I don't have any Facebook or Twiter clients running on the background all the time either. News/RSS client is set to update twice daily - I can always do a manual update if needed when I run out of news to read.

Charging is a different story, as others have stated, it takes way longer than other phones and I am using the same 1A charger I use for the Evo.
