Hey everyone...just wanted to start a thread and see what kind of battery life everyone is getting...this is my first droid / smartphone, but I'm pretty tech savvy...I'm in IT Consulting and have been working on some mobile apps for "that other" platform. I'm coming from an old LG env3...not sure what my battery life expectations should be here...I'm running Autokiller (was running ATK...not sure which is better yet), rooted with LauncherPro...I've renamed most of the popular things to rename, installed the Google widget, etc...I let the phone fully discharge last night (got it in the mail yesterday), charged overnight and have played with it a good bit today...keeping GPS, Wifi, Bluetooth off...my battery meter hit orange at about 12:30PM today after first turning it on this morning around 8:00...

I would read the sticky about Task Killers. Android does a great job manageing memory by its self.

I can't comment on battery life for the Fascinate yet but want to know what people are getting. I currently Have a Droid 1 and can get about 1 day out of it.

Battery life is pretty good. Much better then the Incredible. I get around a full day of hard use out of it.

Sorry to hear that. My battery life not that bad, but I wouldn't consider it "good" either like most here have reported. Typically other than the screen, Widgets and apps that poll/update tend to use the most battery. I am going through my apps checking polling intervals and trying to limit my widgets to see if it helps any. I only have a few widgets now anyway.

I can't understand why my battery life seems so much worse than is being reported either.

The Fascinate battery life is good for an Android phone on Verizon. It hangs with the DX and D2 as far as battery life goes and surpasses the Incredible by a wide margain. Good battery life is 7am to 11pm in my mind. A smartphone that can make it an entire day is fine by me with the amount that I use it.

I get 3-4 days with very light use. I can get a day and a half of moderate to heavy use. This blows the Incredible completely out of the water.

Seriously? I can let mine sit on the desk for my entire work day and never touch it and it would be at 70%...how are you going 3-4 days? Wow.

Are you guys decreasing your brightness or running with autobrightness? I started using mine about 8 this morning and it's 3:20PM now and giving me notification that I need to charge...

Unfortunately I think with any battery poll you're going to get a wide range of opinions simply because of how different everyone pounds on their phones. Some people enjoying playing games here and there, which depletes battery life, some people have Facebook, Twitter, Myspace, etc polling every minute to check for updates, some people have all their location services on which polls from GPS sats, some people just use it to check email and phone, some people send 1k SMS's per day, some people etc etc...

So many factors go into battery life on a smartphone. 1st, get rid of your task killer and stop worrying about it (it's eating up more battery watching your apps then the apps it kills are actually using), make sure your apps like Facebook/Twitter are polling at a reasonable rate of 15 minutes or so, and keep an eye on your battery status in the about phone settings to see if anything is sticking out as a battery buster.

I get anywhere from 5-14 hours out of a full battery on the fascinate, just depends on what I'm doing with the phone that day. I will say that battery life on my Fascinate is MUCH better than my old Moto Droid.

Yeah, I got an extra line for a "home phone" so it doesn't get heavy use like my incredible. I'm thinking about switching these two out though. I am rooted and havent done anything special but remove bloat. Yesterday I loaded up launcher pro because I absolutely loathe touchwiz.

I'm halfway through day 2 (syncing mail, calendar, few txts, can't remember any calls, and at least 4-5 hours of dungeon hunter) and I'm at 65%... my Incredible would have been dead by 4 or 5 yesterday. My Incredible is much worse than everyone elses it seems.

I found one culprit...the Battery Snap app out there was accounting for about 50% of my battery life...ugh...I received this on Monday and by far I'm having the best battery life today. I removed my task killer on Tuesday and am running LauncherPro, 15 minute or 1 hour polling intervals on stuff like Twitter and Facebook, minimal games, auto brightness on...if today continues to be good, I'm sold...

My Fascinate has crap battery life... the other day I let it charge overnight, started using it about 7, by 3pm it was at the 15% mark... I disabled the live wallpaper to see if that helps... I'm not convinced, hopefully that will work. I'm spoiled having used a Blackberry Bold where I can hammer the thing all day. All Android phones suck compared to a BB Bold but then the Bold can't do one quarter the things Android can... it's all a trade off you have to be prepared to accept.

Yeah, no android phone is going to do that great with heavy use. I'm on 84% after 11hrs with relatively light use (15min of phone calls, 30 minutes or so of browsing and 15 texts) with wifi connected. Earlier in the week, I used it fairly heavily on 3G for web browsing and got the 15% left indicator around 4 after being off the charger for ~9hrs. I'd consider that relatively good considering I used iheartradio for about an hour one day and barely turned the screen off.

Has anybody who's having bad battery life tried a new battery? I sometimes wonder if mine is faulty somehow based on the high battery life some people are reporting with heavy use, when I use mine very lightly and it drains pretty damn fast.

What is the average usage per hour? I seem to be all over the map...I've had the phone off the charger since 6:46 and I'm at 83% now (it's 9:07). So in just 2 hours and 19 minutes or so I've gone through 17%. That is very high considering I've done very little with it. I responded to a text message and read a couple of emails. Oh, and played Fruit Ninja for maybe 5 minutes.

But I also noticed at one point yesterday I didn't lose any battery for 2 hours (doing nothing).

Some tips for better battery life:
-disable live wallpapers
-get rid of any auto task killer programs
-turn off auto brightness
-set sync times to 1hour or more
-did I mention getting rid of auto task killers? LOL
