If this initial drop is occurring after disconnecting it while it was on and charging, it may be an anomaly where the loss of power from disconnecting the adapter is causing an errant calculation in the overall charge remaining.
I can not provide any direct feedback in this instance as I am in the habit of charging my phone while it is off.
ugghh.. my battery life is back to complete crap. 8 or 9 hours and it's down to ~20%. the real problem, is that i go to work at 7:30 and work until 5 before getting to school at 5:30 and getting home around 9. even though i have a car charger and a usb charger at work, i'm forced to charge it before going to school. i don't know if that's killing my battery life, but i have to have the phone last all day and it won't do it on its own. the only way it will make it is with a full charge at night and a partial charge before going to school. two charges a day.. every day. seriously weak.
How does that work if you need to use the alarm or receive calls?
i'd reccomend picking up a spare battery and charger from ebay, i ordered one for like $15 that came with the wall charger for the battery and 2 1500mah batteries.
i figure at that price, even if they're crap, i'll have 4 batteries (stock, those two and i have the 1750mah seidio one as well) and that will get me through any day.
or it better![]()
I've been reading these forums for a while leading up to & since migrating to the incredible on opening day. My battery life has been marginal at best as I've tried the various suggestions in this thread and others on how to improve battery life. I've gotten through a full workday without a supplemental charge but I limited my "normal" use to make it. I'm almost always near a computer, so access to power isn't normally a problem (IF I remember my micro usb cord...).
On this past Tuesday, I was in a centeral room of the hospital where I work, which is place I get zero Verizon signal. I was there the entire day relying WiFi to stay connected. I HAD to charge in the afternoon to make it through the workday with enough of a charge so I could cycle home & be able to use CardioTrainer to track that ride home.
Yesterday morning, I installed Advanced Task Killer just to see what sort of impact it would have as I was in that same room again, all day. The impact was unbelievable. Where I would've had only 30'ish percent battery life previously, I had 85 percent left. My battery didn't drop lower than 70 percent until just before I left for home 10 hours after I took my Inc off the charger when I left for work that morning. I haven't even charged it yet & I still have 30 percent left.
I've read the warning threads & articles that said to let Android manage the apps & services itself & how task killers aren't helpful or even make battery life worse...
...I'll just say that wasn't my experience. For me, ATK more than tripled my battery life. I've got a lot of apps loaded...and running, apparently...so ATK has helped me manage the processes that have been devouring my battery. I had ATK ignore several apps so that I still received emails/google voice and other alerts & messages. I'll need to try & figure out what app or apps are the power hungry offenders. But for now, I'll say it's great to see my Inc finally last as long as it should.
are they actually running? or "cached" ....download the app called "system" from the market.I agree. I'v downloaded a task killer that kills task when my phone sleeps and battery life has improved quite a bit. It appears the multi-tasking is draining battery life. I was seeing 18 and 20 app running at a time for seemingly no reason

it will tell you what is running that should be (ie system files) stuff that is running but cached and doesnt affect you battery and then actually apps running that should be if you have turned them on or are snyc apps. i bet you would be surprised on what the 'task' killer is really doing and what its bad
Are we having the task killer argument again?
Didn't I cover this about 20 pages ago? lol
Yes I did, Page 26. boom!
Better than cliffs you should post it in a new thread discussing atk so we can figure out the best method of memory and power management. That'd be sweetAre we having the task killer argument again?

Actually, I did read your comments when you posted them originally. I stayed away from ATK because of those comments & other threads I've read in other threads & sites. All I know is that I installed it and my batterylife has been significantly better. Are we having the task killer argument again?

The logic & articles totally make sense auto why ATK shouldn't help...but it just seems to be helping me in my real-world usage. I'm still assessing as to if there's some other factor making the difference.
