Battery life not lasting? Your fix is in here

Well for whatever it's worth I leave my phone on 24/7 365. I have experienced one slow down over the course I've owned my phone after installing an app. I rebooted the phone, this was 2 days ago, and haven't seen it since. I've used ATK too and ATK versus no ATK in MY experience in real world usage I saw no battery increase but did see about a 50mb memory increase. So until I actually need it I'm going to ignore it for now.

But I think some people seeing a battery increase may have an app that is not letting the phone sleep that stays running in the background, and ATK is shutting it down after you haven't used it in awhile. So all in all I think it mainly depends on what type of usage you are using your phone for and as normal YMMV.

battery question...I was driving today and had my music player and gps on while charging...checked the phone and saw that the temp of the battery was 118 degrees...is that really high? if so, should I bring this back to the verizon store to get a new battery??

Would you mind telling me which app you're using to measure battery temp? i noticed a warm battery while using GPS the other day, but it wasn't terribly hot nor do I have a way to check the temperature.

Thank you!

the batterytime lite app...just checked now and I am charging at home on wall outlet, temp is 95

I have been using "Battery Indicator", it provides the same info as in the battery information menu while using "*#*#4636#*#*".

It doesn't do any updates to the status on its own, rather it takes it queue from the Android system polls and relays most of the status fields, as they are in the specialized menu and places them in the notification bar. I prefer its minimalist appearance.

Thank you so much for this post. I find it useful. And despite the the largest problem the cell phone industries handle is who has the larger market share. This struggle seems to now be between Android vs iPhone. The Android finally had a lot more sales than the iPhone for the first quarter of 2010 in Smartphone sales.

Yeah and hopefully it keeps moving up. Rumor mill has started that the leaked iPhone is coming to AT&T in July. So that will be some competition, but I still think their O/S is getting like Blackberry's.......dated.

Here's the link if anyone else wants to give it a shot, with the usual caveat that any aftermarket items could, however unlikely, damage your phone.

1600mAh Li-ion Extended Battery for HTC Touch Pro 2

OK, so this battery has arrived, as others have noted the TP2 battery IS slightly thicker than the OEM Inc unit. When replacing the back case there are some tiny gaps at the bottom near the USB port, really not noticeable unless you're looking for them but I wanted to put that out there.

I charged it to 100% with the phone powered off and have had Network, Wi-Fi, GPS, Twitter, antivirus, the Weather Channel, Maps and a live wallpaper running for 4 1/2 hours and the batt level (I use batteryminder) is still at 92%. BM is telling me I have over 24 hours of charge (which will depend on usage, of course).

I will post again tomorrow if I have a chance after the battery's run a full cycle but this batt could be a winner.

i saw a picture from the verizon accessories list in a pdf that someone posted with a picture of the 1750 battery that would come out POST launch

anyone know when that battery is coming out and if its an HTC battery or an aftermarket company? Thats basically the deciding factor on whether i buy that one of the seido.

Nobody knows, everyone figured the first round of accessories for the phone would be out 2-6 weeks after the phone. We are creeping up on the end of week 3. So it could be anytime, but I wouldn't hold my breathe, just go ahead and order the Seidio I've heard absolutely no complaints out of that battery.

Incredible and Eris use the same battery. From what I've read the TP2 battery is a little thicker and causes the bottom of the battery door to not contact the phone correctly on the bottom of the phone and around the sides.

Quick update: uptime since charge is now 17 hrs, I'm at 77% battery level with batteryminder saying I've got 20+ hours left. Moderate use. Will check in later. http://www.smavtronics.com/1600mah-li-ion-extended-battery-for-htc-touch-pro-2.html

no complaints EXCEPT that it runs significantly hotter

Eh heats not a huge issue for me, sounds great! Thanks for the heads up about heat too.

its not a matter of being a circumstantial issue. it becomes an issue when ppls phones are rebooting because they have gotten too hot. i've seen a few ppl post on this around here so i guess we'll see within the next few weeks (as more ppl buy the battery) whether the problem continues
