Battery Life on Nexus 4 after 4.3 update?

Thanks for going to that effort, I haven't done any testing so all I can say is my battery has been lasting longer the past couple of days than it used to. Maybe there's something specific to your phone preventing a similar experience?

I don't think so. The apps are quite similar to those I used when it was 4.2.2.Also I never installed suspicious apps. Most of apps on my Nexus are from reputable developers and editor's pick.
It would be great if someone perform similar test as mine. I charged to 100% and used to 35% to see Screen On Time. I'm using stock ROM too.
Or turn on airplane mode before bed and see how many % battery was drained during night.

Maybe there's something on your phone that isn't playing nicely with 4.3

I got the update couple of days back and since then battery life is significantly reduced. Earlier at night, battery percentage used to get decreased by 4-5% max but now it reduces more than 25% overnight. And during the day as well, without using much, it's down 30% in 6 hours.

And probably Android OS consumes quite a bit of it? I noticed that some apps (don't know which ones) trigger OS to consume much more energy (actually phone doesn't fall asleep). Before update, OS consumed some higher percentage, but consumption didn't go up by itself (after running apps).
Now after re-starting phone OS consumes much less, but then it could go way up... Restart returns it back to low.

Will try the experiment with overnight Airplane mode though.

My Battery has definitely got better. I'll do a more thorough test in the weekend.

Since I am using stock ROM and didn't tweak anything. I assume you're talking about apps.
Here is the apps on my Nexus 4
Nexus 4 Apps - Imgur

You have quite a few there but I have no idea which apps (besides the infamous FB app) would be "known offenders" for battery drain. Some questions to consider:

do you use a lot of widgets?
do you use apps that are known to constantly seek info in the background? (like weather, news, etc)
do you use a high brightness setting?
Is your stock ROM a custom ROM based on stock or do you mean you're not using a ROM at all?

It's pretty near impossible for me to figure out why you're having battery issues other than to suggest that you keep watching your battery meter for suspects, or maybe watch for wakelock triggering apps. I hope you get your problem sorted out

Thanks for your advice. However, I managed to retain battery while I was sleeping last night. All I did is just restart my Nexus 4 once and Android OS problem seemed to resolve.

My Nexus 4's battery life has improved!
A newbie end user's take on it....
Earlier , the battery used to get ridiculously low by 4 PM (I start for work at 7 AM). Now, the battery easily cruises on till 9PM

Here is my update. I charged my phone all the way, then set brightness to 100%. After that I set the phone to stay "awake" for 30 mins and had my WiFi turned on. Other than responding to a few texts/emails, web browsing and whatsapp I didn't do anything else. Occasionally I forgot the screen had locked itself and had to unlock it again. Here are the pics :):D

5 hours 43 mins to go to 2%. Not too shabby.

I did however notice that some of the items disappeared from the battery use log for reasons unknown.

Not trying to sound sarcastic.... but you could try not having so many apps running in the foreground.

Or maybe it's just the background, I'm can't remember right of hand.

Either way, your system is running to many things at once for it to be worked about battery life.

With 4.3 Android now forces any app running in the foreground or background to have an icon in the notification tray.

Must be background cos I dont see icons in notifications for running apps.
