Battery life thread

Ok guys, just curious here but how much battery does your phone burn while you're going through Facebook, looking at the forums using Tapatalk or just surfing the net. Just gimme a ballpark number like 1% per minute, 1% per 2 minutes, etc...

Thanks.

For me, while on 4g seems like 1% every two minutes or so....I'm trying to figure if this is normal or not...

That's about what I'm getting too. Hopefully some more people will answer my question and then we can figure out if 1% about every two minutes is normal.

Thanks.

My battery life is great. Can easily get 12-16 hours even up to twenty with moderate use. I am nitnin a LTE area all the time so that could be a factor. I have my screen brightness set to automatic. Browse the web about 40min a day. Dont use facebook much. I do have a car charger and charge up on my way into work and can easily wake up with thirty percent on my battery.

I have mentioned in this thread or on another that I am burning 1% every minute to two on tapatalk or web browsing. It's horrid if that is the rate it burns battery on cellular data. Needs to be made A LOT more efficient. This is with minimum of 3 bars usually 4-5 on 3g. 4g is usually 3-4 bars but only at work.

If it were me, I would do a factory reset and do not reinstall any apps and see what happens. If the problem still occurs take it back to vzw.

Well I installed LTE Swtich from the market and have only turned on 4G when I need it. It is a 2 click process that takes about 5 seconds. Since using my data with the switch I have noticed a substantial increase in battery life. I am in a strong 4G area and use wifi while at home and easily make a days worth off of one charge. I also have several smart actions set up too.

No rookie here, haha. Have done that twice and recalibrated battery and all, no positive results.

I think that's pretty much the standard rate with the screen on. Are you using auto brightness?

I think with the stock launcher its automatically refreshing status updates on facebook/twitter regardless of what you have it set to in the app. If you look in settings, there's no way to set the social syncing for time, only to stop sync until connected to wifi. Every time I would glance at the facebook widget, it would see a status from a very short time ago, always a new one. While on my previous android, I had it set to never automatically refresh. I froze a bunch of apps, including the home screen stock launcher and im getting noticeably better battery life. ADW is now in it's place.

sorry, didn't mean to imply you were. I think it is just odd. I get 17+ hours no problem. Seems like a rogue app or setting.

My feeling is that it's not normal, that would be about a little more than 3 hour
rundown. On the Engadget review he got 5 hrs 1 min...

No foul. Was only joking. A lot of people don't know the little things that can help. I drained my phone is 3 hours browsing web, tapatalk, browsing settings, texting. No calls, downloads, streaming.

Well I went back to VZW and exchanged the phone for a new one. Battery life is good so far. Too early to tell for sure. BUT when I put it in my HD dock last night and the screen appears all crackly and the black background is more of a nasty green color. I LOVE the phone but two bad devices? This is getting a little ridiculous. Might have to rethink keeping this phone.

Hey guys, after almost 2 weeks of having the phone, my battery doesn't seem to be doing too well. I can get about 6 hours of normal use and I'm down to 40% battery left. This is with 3g only, wifi off, BT off and GPS off. Is this normal? Here is what is using up the battery:

Display 38%
Android OS 27%
Socal Location 13%
Phone Idle 6%
Phone Standby 6%
Facebook 3%
Android System 3%
Text Messaging 2%

What do you guys think? Should I take it back for an exchange?

Thanks for the help.

I suggest you install a circle battery app, charge it up to 100%, and leave it on overnight. Try it again tomorrow with the background data off and see. Should only have dropped 4% to15% overnight.

Thanks for the response. I don't have a problem with the battery over-night. I've already tested the over-night performance and it only drops about 4% in 8-9 hours while I'm asleep. My problem is when I'm using the phone moderately, it seems the battery drops really fast; maybe like 1% every 2 minutes.

Do you think I could be in a bad signal area?

Getinng same battery drop 3 g only wifi home. 1 percent every 2 min. Wondering what is the most time someone has seen on a single charge with the display being on as seen in battery manager. Mine was 2hrs going from 90 percent to 20 percent in 6 hrs

This is exactly what I'm getting too.
