Battery Life Thread

Anyone else have strong battery life the first few days, then bad? My first day lasted 23hrs with 5hr screen time. It has been getting worse ever since. Today I am 8hr, 2hr screen time, 25% remaining. I'm running better battery to see where the usage is...a lot of android system and android os.

Yeah I looked into that, it was like 34% from "home" which I believe is the launcher and then a handful of other things for like 4% and under. Should the launcher be hitting me like that ?

Also his held awake time was 6 hours. Something wasn't letting your phone go to sleep.

Yeah, but it says that only got me for 0.5% so should I just not worry about that more or less?

So I don't know what to think especially considering some of the other people's amazing battery life. I had Pandora streaming for 6+ hours today at full blast through headphones. Can I please have some input or thoughts on weather or not this is good or bad? I'm kinda da noobish.

My battery did seem to drop in percentage more quickly after the first few days, but the actual time off the charger seemed the same. Around 24 hours for each full charge since last Thursday.
I really think the battery and system are just calibrating over the first few days, but I started paying attention to battery usage yesterday.
Location access was the bulk of my Google Services (biggest drain after screen) battery drain, but then after turning that off Android OS and Android System were the bulk of the drain. There was some wakelock issue going on there, so I did a factory reset to nail it down.
As of right now, after 1.5 hours screen on time I have 85% left. Seems fine to me, that's on track for over 6 hours screen on time.
My best stats were from Monday:
Verizon
25.5 hours
6.5 hours screen on
WiFi and 4g on

Oh and chrome was killing so much battery. I disabled and switched to Firefox.

Thanks. I was the exact same.Google services killed me and disabled, now it's android system. I will test again tomorrow then factory reset of I have to. I was ecstatic over the battery the first 3 days. Chrome is sucking battery linking at these forums as well. Do you use stock browser?

I used wakelock detector and better battery stats to narrow it down to a number of possibilities: Facebook was acting up and keeping the phone from sleep. There was one wakelock I never could pin down, and the wisdom of the internet was of no hope. It's a partial wakelock called WifiOffDelayIfNotUsed. No idea whet it is but it's still at the top of my wakelock list.

there's a setting in: settings -> wifi -> (settings button) -> advanced wifi -> internet unavailable. if you check the box, the phone will scan to see if there are wifi networks in range, and if there are none it will shut wifi off. maybe WifiOffDelayIfNotUsed is related to this?

I think this setting actually checks the ap that you're on to see if it's actually connected to the internet and if not disables. I don't think it has to do with an ap being in range.

i went from the note 2 to the iphone5. had no problem getting used to the smaller screen. lol.

That's you're problem, sorry you had to do such a thing. Lol.

I removed the stock weather widget and Google services is at 1% of total usage.

I notice Google services drains more battery when you're on Wifi and also when you have contacts sync turned on in Google sync options.

I notice Google services drains more battery when you're on Wifi and also when you have contacts sync turned on in Google sync options. As well as when you have location history and auto detect location on in Google maps. With that off I notice I save allot of battery life. You still get you're location updated so it's a weird option.

Try what I said in my last post. Turn off location history and auto update location in Google maps. I noticed the same thing.

First trip with the phone (Verizon). Waze on in the background for around 4 hours. Listened to previously downloaded Spotify playlists (not streamed) and Play Music (on device music) for about 5 hours. Occasional 4g, but mostly on 3g and also 1x. Took about 50 pictures. Used Twitter and Gmail. Total of 2.5 hours screen time. GPS always on. On WiFi for about an hour or so. Screen on auto brightness with 60% baseline.

13hr 35min battery usage.
Now at 29%.
8 hours estimated time remaining (?).

It got me through the day, but I thought I might have a little more left.

I'm not a power-user (don't stream music or anything, just use my email, take calls, use twitter, and browse the internet.)

39 hours and 45 minutes of use, still 30% of battery remaining. System estimates that I have 15 hours remaining.

2 hours, 7 minutes, and 54 seconds of screen time. (Auto brightness - 100%)
WiFi on, Bluetooth on (for syncing with car,) GPS on.

Better battery life than I could have ever imagined.

We'll see how it goes when I start using it when I run (MapMyRun is my default app for that,) but I've been incredibly happy with it on my first charge.

Edit: Made it to 44 hours and 52 minutes with 12% left before I decided to charge it again.
2 hours, 30 minutes, and 15 seconds of screen time.

Just had my 'worst' battery life so far... 19.5 hours, 4 hours of screen on time(65 brightness), but I was watching Netflix or had mobile hot-spot on for most of those 4 hours, and I'm in the middle of a hospital with only 2 bars of 4G.... Still had 15% battery left.

I'm so stoked with this phone... Just awesome.

Do you have anything big you turned off? My battery today wasn't great again. I'm at 11hr, 2hr screen, 30%
