battery usage is horrible - how to optimize

Yeah then go to motion smoothness in same menu turn to 60hz

Ok so I have FHD+ set
I can not set motion smoothness to standard (60hz) because battery saving is on.
I had to turn that off.

What else should I do to save battery?
I have dynamic lock screen off

Yeah battery save automatically puts it in 60hz , turn AOD off of tap to see in settings>lock screen
Dark mode and turn 5g off you should see significant difference

Great. I will try those and see how it goes

I really appreciate all the help. There is always a learning curve with a new phone plus this is the first time I used android 12
Thanks

Welcome
Yeah I agree new phone /new Android version new things to learn

Yep 5G seems to be one of the worst things to come along for the consumer since non removable batteries
Turned off on my pixel and wife's Samsung. Even when you know you are in 5g coverage the battery drain is surprising.

I very much agree on both counts. I really liked my first smart phone with removable batteries. I kept a spare on charge and swapped them quickly and easily anytime I needed

As you can see in my screenshot it says LTE and now this screenshot shows LTE without WiFi Screenshot_20220821_095225.jpg

Actually I think it is strange on my phone. I think it is showing the 5G with the LTE behind it. Part of the E sticks out on the right
