Battery Won't Charge Fully - help!

So taking the battery out of the phone won't allow it to reach 100%?
I'm having a hard time believing that, as I'm taking the charging duties away from the phone, putting the battery in, and recalibrating the battery. If that doesn't work, the phone is getting returned to stock and back to VZW.

I'm not saying the battery doesn't charge to 100%. I'm sure it does. But the phone won't see it that way when you put it in is what I mean. It doesn't fix the phones issue.

Been having the same problem... can't get charge past ~81%. Unfortunately, I'm no longer under the 1 yr warranty (got the phone when it first came out in March 2011). Tried everything above, ie, bought new batteries from Verizon, tried hard reset, etc and still no joy. My wife also has the TB and she can charge to 100% with any of our batteries, so its definitely a phone problem and not a battery problem.
Since I bought it with my Visa credit card, I get an extra year of warranty service. I called HTC to find out about repairs, and they sent me to Personal Communication Devices (PCD) which they use for servicing out of warranty TBs. PCD wants me to send in my phone for a couple weeks to diagnose the problem (starting with a $75 charge just to see the phone), and won't give me an estimate on how much it will finally cost for repair.
So my question: can my TB and battery problem be fixed? From previous posts, the only way to fix this problem was to get a replacement phone, so is it even possible that it can be repaired? I'm wondering if it's even worth sending my phone in for repairs if it's hopeless? I miss seeing the green light.

It can definitely be repaired. I'm sure Personal Communication Devices (PCD) has the tools and parts to fix it just as HTC would. The real question is the cost and if you?re willing to pay it. Another option, if the phone works normally off a fully charged battery (indicates full charge and slowly drops), you could get an external charger to keep the batteries charged and swap out as needed. It?s what I?ve been doing pretty much since getting the phone back in April 2011, so I rarely ever plug the phone in to charge a battery. I have the exact same problem. I used to be able to charge it over night and the light would be green in the morning. Now I do the same and the light is still red and the battery percentage stops at anywhere from 59% to 79%. It is different every time. A full reboot will sometimes change the percentage without any additional charging which leads me to believe the issue is with the phone. If put my battery into my wife's TB it reads at 100% which also confirms my belief that the problem is with the hardware and not the battery.
One last piece of information I have not seen mentioned is that if you go to the Battery Use menu (Settings > About Phone > Battery > Battery Use) it says the phone has been on battery for 32 days which is clearly not the case since getting through more than a day is near impossible as it is. Clearly this problem started about a month ago. My wife's TB resets the 'on battery' counter every time I plug or unplug the charger.
I have had my TB since the day it has released and I am currently using an extended battery but the same problem happens no matter what battery I use.
I am at the point where I think I am going to take in to Verizon and see if they can help me either with a refurb or a different phone.

Thanks hankahn for the info. Now that you mention it, I do remember looking at Battery Use and also seeing something similar (ie, on for >30 days). Good catch!

In this case I think the issue would fall under a manufacturer defect and would warrant a replacement if possible. Will let you know what I find out.

I sent my TB to them August 8th. I called on August 10th , and they had received it for processing, and said it usually takes a turnaround of about 2 weeks.
Called again on August 16th. They said they had diagnosed the problem, and it will cost $75 to repair the phone, and did I want to proceed. At that point I gave them the go ahead, and had them charge my credit card.
Called them on August 24th for an update. Operator said the fix requires changing the main board (motherboard?) and they were waiting on the parts.
Called again on August 31st. Their system was down, so they couldnt check on my phone status.
Called on Sept 4th. They are still waiting on the part from overseas, with no estimation on time.
So it's been almost a month, with no end in sight. If they had diagnosed the problem by August 16th, then the part order should have gone in that day. Does it really take more than 3 weeks to get a part? Besides, they are the main TB repair service for Verizon Wireless... you'd think they would have a couple TB motherboards in stock. They are perfectly nice when you call, but I'm not impressed by the speed of their service. And I also wish they were more pro-active, with the option to send me an update online, by phone, or email so that I don't have to keep calling them every week.

Received my phone back from PCD on Thursday 09-13-12. Phone would not activate, so visited a Verizon Wireless store on Friday. They gave me a new SIM card and sent me on my way. The phone still would not activate, but I thought maybe it would just take some time. But by Saturday morning, the phone still had not activated. So called Verizon Wireless. After spending about 1.5 hours on the phone, they finally gave up. The problem is that the 4GLTE network connects (ie, I can surf the web), but the phone will not connect to the Verizon phone or message network. I could receive text messages, but not send texts or receive or make calls. They recommended I take it back to Verizon Wireless store to try a new SIM card. So I tried a different Verizon Wireless store, who installed a new SIM card, and again with the same problem. As far as the Verizon system can see, the phone is activated. However, the phone can not connect to the Verizon phone network. The customer rep said that the SIM card is not being read into the device.
So, basically, Personal Communication Devices has completely messed up my phone, and have charged me $75 for that service. They must have installed a faulty motherboard. So much for quality control. Of course, they aren't open on the weekends so I have to wait till Monday to call and get this sorted out. I wonder if they will charge me another $75 for another motherboard?

The CSR was a bit surprised it wasn't working, but did issue a return authorization and emailed me a pre-paid shipping label. I sent it back on Tuesday 09/18, it arrived to them on Wednesday 09/21 and it was returned to me on Friday 09/21. So this time the turn around was amazing. They indeed replaced the motherboard again, and this time everything is working smoothly. Battery life appears excellent.
So in the end PCD did come through, but it was a very long, slow, and frustrating process from start to finish. The price was reasonable ($75), which my credit card company has agreed to pay, so the cost to me ends up being $0. If I had to do it again to fix this same problem, I would first call PCD and find out if they have a replacement motherboard in their shop (I'm guessing they must now have a supply of motherboards). Otherwise, just be forewarned you're phone will be gone for weeks. Their quality control could have been better and should have caught the defective motherboard before it was shipped to me, but they did replace the defective motherboard as quickly as was possible. And I'm happy I can maintain my unlimited data plan for a bit longer without having to buy a new phone.

I have the galxey tablet. I took it off the charger when it was only 99% I heard you have to let charge fully. I thought 99% was good enough. But now it womt fully charge to 100%. What do I do.

the night so i have two batteries both are different one is from Samsung and the other is from a company named beltron but now their saying its the same battery like hell it isn't the original battery charges to 100 percent in about two hours but the new one never made it to 100 in over 18 hours so how is this better or the same for that matter .

This worked for me - I drained the battery till my phone shut down, then I let it charge overnight and in the morning it was fully charged, btw before it didn't charge more than 61%.. , well, hope I helped
