Best Buy and RS gets EVO Inventory EARLY?

I'm hoping that the ultimate shocker from Sprint is that it pushes the launch date to this weekend or next. Not sure what would hold Sprint back at this point other than not having reps ready to sell it. I think Sprint would benefit from an even earlier than June 4. I've never thought there was a significant advantage to June 4 over June 6 because neither is that far ahead of Apple's WWDC and iPhone hubbub.

Best Buy for example can get sued for selling product early, we as a store can get fined around $10,000 for each item sold before release date. Now that is up to the original company to prosecute but I has and can happen.

I didnt think cellphones had restricted street dates like video games did?

Im more than fine for the 4th, as I have the day off and my supposedly 11:30 appointment with BB.

But it'd be nice to get a call earlier in the week, saying come pick up your EVO.

You would think it would make sense for BB and RS and the Sprint Stores to be allowed to sell it and activate it a day or two early in order to get ahead of the rush of "normal, non-totally obsessed" Evo buyers who did not pre order. It will be a real headache getting all those people ready to go on the 4th. Why not release some of that pressure on them. Normally only one maybe two people working at any given time at BB or Sprint store. That equals really long waits to get your phone set up. Especially if the person in front of you needs their contacts switched over or they have a ton of questions about the phone. YIKES! Why would they not want to release some of the pressure from their reps????

I'm pretty sure it's Sprint's call on when to sell with resellers. That said, I'm also hoping Hesse comes in on Friday and says, "Release the hounds!"

I would think they would want to sell it as early before the new iPhone announcement as possible. June 4th makes no sense to me, the Friday of memorial day weekend makes way more sense. People are off, and there is such a serious buzz going on that I think it would benefit Sprint in a big way. I think there holding June as the month because they originally said Summer, so to them Summer is June. And because they maybe want to start on a Fresh month from a sales point of view, who knows? Either way, there ready to go now I would imagine. So a few days won't hurt anyone, or sales.

I'm hoping they're planning on "flipping the switch" on some of, if not all the already 4G announced cities, late night on the 3rd.

How cool would it be for Sprint to start blasting commercials for 4G coverage in all the major cites on the to do list exspecially Los Angeles & N.Y? Here's hoping!!

That would severly kick at&t and Apple where it hurts...Would do a lot of damage to iPhone sales. If they could drop 4G in some big cities at the the time of launch it would be HUGE for Sprint in there quest for a serious comeback...

yes it's true. i got confirmation that Best Buy will NOT purposely sell the EVO before June 4 unless by some miracle they get the OK from Sprint to do so.

so June 4 it is.
