I looked at the smaller pixel 3 today at best buy and it impressed me, played with it for about 30 min...not sure yet if im going to buy one and put it on at&t but its a contender for sure...nice display

But the notch can be completely eliminated with a Pixel 3 XL option in settings and it will look exactly like the Pixel 3 screen, complete with rounded corners. The only difference is that you will have a bigger screen with higher resolution with the 3 XL.

Took a look at all the colors of both sizes. IMO the pixel 3 is almost the perfect size. It is actually smaller the the pixel 2 and the bezels are greatly reduced almost cut in half. Compared to an s9 the p3 top and bottom bezels are just a hair thicker. I am really liking the the look and feel of the p3.
The build feels quite nice. Build quality seems to have taken a step up. The transition from glass to aluminum back to glass is smooth. it feels as good as the iPhone 8 or s9 in terms of build.
My only concern will be quality control. the kinda white p3 had a band of red pixels around the edge of the screen its black glass seemed to have more of a gap btw it and the frame

I checked out the units at our local store today. While I'm still not a fan of the notch, it doesn't look nearly as bad in person as it does in pictures. And, regardless, everything about the phone is user experience and not about winning a beauty contest against Crapple devices.
The screen looked fantastic on both versions (3 and 3 XL). The back was super slick compared to the 2/2XL. The 3 felt small to me but I can totally see a strong interest in its size due to the easier ability to use it with one hand. The portrait mode looked great but I could see a couple of struggles it had with the edge of our hair vs. the background.
Regarding the notch...if Google could just put the time, notifications, indicators up there but with a black band, then it would be as close to perfect as it could possibly be considering the need for the dual speakers and cameras up front.
I'm not deterred by the notch thanks to the visit but I also confirmed that a case will be absolutely vital to ensure there is grip on the thing.

Lew made quite a deal about this very idea on IG and Youtube earlier this week. Then, just a little while ago he posted this up on IG. If it's true I am super stoked...

I posted this in another thread, but there's an app called Nacho Notch for the 3XL that does what you're describing. It was in an article on XDA the other day.

I know I have a problem when I'm stopping every day on my way back from work at Best buy just to play with the Pixel 3 XL
Next Friday can't come soon enough.
As long as you're only touching the Pixels, you're not too far gone.

I just hope this is a Google update and not a 3rd party thing. Google really needs to officially refine that notch space and not require 3rd parties to do it for them.
