Best Buy Finally Called and Asked Me To Return The GN

Dude tell this people at Best Buy that if they want the device THEY have to paid YOU at least $700 so you can in turn get the GSM version otherwise they can fk them self up and Verizon too. This is the worse product lunch in history.

It has a concern with the screen calibration. It's possible that an OTA will fix it but I'm going to test my luck and just exchange when they are fully released. As of now, still no update on the BB situation. They said they were going to call again today so I will see if they make a better offer. I was just mad yesterday when I said I will just exchange for a 32GB iphone 4s which is the same price and they said they didn't have them and don't want to go out of their way to get it but would for the 16GB and refund me the $100 difference.

I noticed the other day on my wife's Samsung Fascinate that there was burn in on multiple parts of the screen, but it was only noticeable during bright white screens, which I only seemed to come across when the browser was loading a page. Might just be a super amoled thing. She's never even noticed it.

As a person who has worked in the industry for a while now, I just have to say that the blame for all of this comes squarely on the shoulders of the management of the retail stores. First, people were not properly informed about the device launch, they were able to override the POS in a way that allowed them to sell the device. If it was not in the system as something to be sold, maybe that should be a clue. The second thing is the management's refusal to correct the issue. If this is going to be negative for the store, you would think you would want to at least throw you a little something to save face. You made the effort to come back, they told you to shut up and take what they think you deserve. Good for you on making them sweat a little!

Yeah, same here. I only REALLY notice it on bright white screens when the phone is in a lower brightness setting, but I can kinda see it in other places. Just distracting at times.

I think what you've done has been the best course of action. demanding things isn't going to work but the ball is in their court, they know where you stand and they know if they want it back you want some compensation for your time and the inconvenience of the whole situation. we know it's bigger than just the software not being perfect causing them to want the phone back so bad. software will be updated soon enough.. it's not like ICS is going to explode in your face killing you and those within a 5mi radius so it's them saving you and those around you. lol they are obviously in a lot of trouble for selling it early and it really would be in their best interest to give you a gift card for your troubles and be done with it.

So was that burn effect there before? Cause I'm sure everybody will be getting the same phone that's been sitting there for a week and didn't know I'd that burn effect is a known problem?

you are doing the right thing. You can't not be forced into returning anything. Stand firm, and keep that bad a** phone until they present you with an acceptable solution.

I was told by a best buy manager that for every device they sell when the phone isn't released they will be charged $10K ($10,000). So you have some leverage. It isn't your fault they sold you the phone.(Unless you knowingly lied.) Make them help you out. If it is going to cost someone their job then it isn't worth it in my opinion I would take it back. They should give something though.

The burn effect or Screen calibration as it's being referred to around the nets seem to be a well known problem in the GS2's that t-mobile are selling. I've been reading that a pretty large number of newer Samsung phones have this issue right now.

Screw it it is yours end of discussion. Don't let the moral police make u feel guilty.

If it costs anyone their job it should be the manager of the wireless department. Products that should not be sold should not be on the sales floor. Makes sense right. Who is in charge of the sales floor? A manager. Don't let them hold anything above you. You have the power!

Darn so it will eventually do it once I get mine eh? Just when is the problem.

They sold you the phone. That means contractually and legally it belongs to you. They cannot make you do anything. They cannot threaten you with anything. If they ask you again, maybe you can say "oh maybe I should talk to BB's head office". That might make them unload on their pants.

Verizon also cannot block your access because you rightfully bought a legit product for a legit purpose. If they block you then they are violating your legal contract of what the phone is for.

My guess is that verizon cannot sell these phones because it may be illegal for them to do so if the rumors about google wallet and net neutrality is true. It may not but verizon might be airing on the safe side.

So basically you hold the key to some people going to jail or being fined a lot of money. hahaha. Love it.
Next time you go back, wear it around your neck with some christmas lights around it.

They are of no relation of the Hardy Boys, those dudes solve things w/ clues. Phandroid boys are just clueless.

Ah yes, the Hardly Boys and their raging clues...

Ex-BB employee here again: For what its worth, Best Buy has a 30 day return policy. Technically Verizon has 14 day return policy but you aren't trying to change your service at all. So you *should* be able to exchange it at the store within 30 days of purchase. In all honesty, you may get a bit of flack depending on how bad the screen is. I hate to say it, but with all this commotion, I would not recommend going to the store of purchase, (nor an immediate nearby store). If it were me, (since I keep up with phone news) I would recognize the issue and replace it in the store, but you might not be so lucky in every case. Good luck.

I'm sure I can get a refund if that happens.

He didn't mention anything about getting fired, just that he got word of the software problems and best buy needs to have the phone back as it's not for sale until it's all sorted out.

Ok. I work at a bestbuy and honestly never heard of a situation like this. To me it seems that store is under fire for selling a device outside the launch date. They probably don't want to be fined A LOT of money so they are hoping you bring it back. A software problem? Bull. They don't know of said "software" issues unless its been claimed to be recalled within the system. So idk. This sounds funny to me.

I agree. They all had the shifty eye when telling me this story.
