I had a horrible experience waiting on my 10 plus with best buy last year. Husband did Samsung.

Mine was horrible as well. Took me 3 hrs on the phone after almost yelling at a manager because it showed they had stock but couldn't fulfill my preorder.

Wasn't there an issue that Samsung didn't do something to cause the phones not be able to be activated. If I remember tight, best buy had no control over that one. I can't remember the whole story, but it was a nightmare

With that said, best buy is not the place to order pre-orders from if getting the phone on release day is priority. From what I'm seeing, it looks like the ultra 512 is going to be the problem phone this year. Out of stock on Samsung, Verizon back ordered already, and best buy is starting to show not available at stores. That is concerning because best buy isn't known for going by availability, they usually just keep selling with no concern.

Best buy usually says available for pick up on release thru the whole preorder process. The fact that they are now saying ultra 512 is not available at a lot of stores is concerning, that's not normal for them to cut off sales like that.

They've done it before if they get too many orders. Had it happen to me with 512gb Note 9 although luckily it came back within a few days. It's clear by all the ordering sites that the 512gb ultra will be in limited stock come release day.

I worked at Best Buy for over 4 years as a Superviosr in the Mobile Department. I can tell you that when we had phone releases for the Galaxy phones, Notes and iPhones...we never got the high storage phones in, like we did the low storage phones.

The only way we got them in was if a customer pre-ordered it. and even then, 80 percent of the time, the device wasn't available for pick up on release day.

I think it happen more with iPhone though. I remember customers coming in pre-ordering 512GB phones. One or two people would have it on release day and some wouldn't. They'd complain and rightfully so.

I used to tell customers, that personally I wouldn't preorder with Best Buy because just because you preorder with them does not mean you'll have the phone on release day. It just means you're going to a get a phone whenever it come comes in; which was Corporate's response to us at the time about taking preorders.

Mine showed pre-ordered and scheduled for pickup on release day initially. Today it now doesn't say pre-ordered anymore and says preparing for pickup Friday. So weird that some of the order screens aren't the same.

Well I'll take the communication at least. I never expected best buy to get the Verizon ultra 512. I have a order at Samsung that's shipping, that's the unlocked 128.

I might have to decide between the 2,I don't know how I'll decide on this one.

Ended up preordering again - Sprint Ultra, 128 GB, Cosmic Gray (the only option for my carrier through BB) (was quite indecisive) last night. Was going to try Samsung.com but their app wasnt working right so went through BestBuy.com and picked shipping in case it may arrive a day or two earlier than store pick up. Have heard issues with others and store pick up options at Best Buy. Plus, shipping usually I can pick to hold at UPS and pick up when I am able.

No. The first charge was just a pre authorization hold. You should see the charge so up again soon.

That's how it works, you won't be charged until it ships or ready for pickup. It was just authorization for the entire amount which drops off after certain number of days.
