best buy pre-order

Also..I called my local BB today and as far as they know they will still be receiving their S3 on time (on the 28th). Could they really be this clueless about their products delivery/contracts w/ suppliers? Seems kinda crazy

Why on earth do they not match Verizon prices? Doesn't that kinda directly fly in the face of their own advertised policy?

Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2

They say their price match policy doesn't apply to full-retail priced cell phones. I beg to differ, but whatever.....

I preordered from BB cause they were stating an earlier arrival date (6/28). Unfortunately if you order from BB you WILL lose your unlimited data plan as the 27 is the last day to renew/upgrade. The verizon rep I talked to today was very clear about that, that if my phone arrives on the 28th I will have missed the deadline.
But....I cant wait until the 12th of july and I've never used more than 1gig on my dx , Im leaning towards instant gratification over waiting. Plus Im going out of the country on 6/6 and really want to bring this phone with me :)

What do ya think, moronic or decent move? Once I lose unlimited Ill never get that back but then again is loosing this just inevitable next upgrade?

Why not be patient and pre-order so that you can secure the unlimited. Believe me the 4G phone will encourage more data usage. I mean it's so much faster that 3G. Over time you will out run the DX usage you had before. Trust me I went from a DX to a Nexus and my usage instantly increased.

Resist instant gratification and wait it out, I bet you'll be thankfully 6-8 months down the road to have unlimited even if you lose it down the road with another upgrade.

Well I am keep my Best Buy pre-order and I am not accepting "You have to switch to a Share Everything Plan" as an answer.

If your an existing VZW customer you wouldn't have to hear them say "You have to switch to a Share Everything Plan" because you can go with the existing calling plan and data package. As an existing customer you probably will hear them tell you you'll need to sign your new SIII to a $30 2GB data plan.

The "You have to switch to a Share Everything Plan" is an option for all, but is required to ALL new customers after the 28th.

I bought my Droid X via BB, but I wouldn't take any chances with pre-oredering via BB this time, just to many conflicting answers. Be safe and pre-order online with VZW so that you can choose your current unlimited plan when you complete your new 2 year contract.

That's silly, they need to drop the price guarantee crap. I guess BB is cutting back on some of their better practices, I bet they tweak their return policy next to save some $$.

Not defending best buy, but I'm guessing in this case it is because the cost of the phone is such that $600 is little to no profit. VZW prices their phones so that if you buy the phone subsidized with a new account, then cancel right away and pay the ETF, you aren't paying [much] less than the retail price of the phone through their same company. It saves them loads of work in the long run, especially when it's not as if it's an unlocked GSM device, they know that no matter how you buy it they are getting the access fees.

Unfortunately, it won't be there then. Likely the 12th for them along with all the other retailers.

You do realize that the Verizon model is not including Global Roaming until later this year correct? Out of the box it will not be able to be used overseas other then as a wifi tablet of sorts. If you get the phone before then, do not activate it or you will not have a phone to use where ever you are going outside the US. Then again, you said you have a DX which doesn't do Global Roaming anyway so both ways you are screwed. Some are reporting the DX works on Japans CDMA network, but data is slow and frequently disconnects. I don't think there are any other countries in the world that use the same CDMA frequency we use; most are GSM and the few rare places that use CDMA are on a different mHz band.

Just an FYI.

Verizon Galaxy S3 global roaming coming only later via software update

Yep, I do realize that but I still have a long plane ride with plenty of time to get to know my new device and I generally use my phone as a media kit ( music, movies, games) as we'll as a wifi communication tool. So yes, no global roaming now but still plenty of use and fun to be had regardless!

I'm wondering if, because of the hardware being the same in the US versions, devs will figure out how to utilize/unlock the GSM side of the device before VZW updates. How long was it before they released that on the RAZR and Rezound?

My understanding is that BB does not actually register your phone with VZ until they receive it. Since they won't receive it until after the 28th I don't see how you could keep unlimited data. That is the reason I ordered directly with VZ.

hahahah thanks matt, you're funny. however, like i said earlier my wife and i don't use a ton of data so we can do 6 gb easily since we only use 1gb now and it will still be the same $$ we spend with our current plan.. good looking out though

Don't be so sure. If your coming from a 3G phone to a 4G s3 then you'll see a bump in usage. A lot of the increase usage will be the newness of the phone with you using the new toy. But I bet you'll use much more going forward with the S3 and all its speed. That 6GB cap could look tiny a few months down the road.

VZW knows that with all the 4G phones coming to the network that will eat up the current data plan structure.

I'm gonna try to keep my unlimited for as long as they let me!
