best buy pre-order

what's your professional opinion on going in to pick up my white 32 tomorrow and asking if I can just get a second white instead of my second pre ordered blue 32 that obviously isn't coming in.. will this null and void my preorder (keep unlimited) status, or do you think in your shoes bb employees "could potentially" swap out for the different color since there should be available stock.

Not sure if I'll work but that's what I'm gonna try. I just stopped by my BB but they wouldn't sell me one. I'm not sure how Verizon's pre 28th pre order verification process will work. If they ask for the pre order number we may be stuck waiting for blues.

Yes, he just said the store manager gave the go ahead to let pre-orders go today. He also said they had very few pre-orders (about 5) for the Verizon S3 but lots for Sprint and AT&T.

The 32gb are in short supply at BB. Some white are available, but blue is rare in my region. VZW where I live do not know when they will get 32gb of either color.

Best buy ticked me off tonight... The only reason I pre-ordered through them was because of the $50 gift card with "purchase of a new phone or upgrade of a phone plus activation before 12/31/2012" I called to see if I could happen to pick up the phone tonight, they said no. That's ok, I expected that. I figured while I had them on the phone, I would make sure everything is in line for my wife and I to get our $50 gift cards when we purchase the new phones tomorrow (we both signed up). I told her I was purchasing a new phone and switching off of Sprint. She wanted to talk to her manager, took my number, and then called me back 20 min. later stating that since I was switching providers my wife and I both could not use this promotion. FYI, we are both keeping our registered numbers.

Here is what the promotion stated "If you purchase and activate your mobile phone at Best Buy or Best Buy Mobile stores using your registered phone number, you will instantly receive a $50 gift card that can be used toward your mobile phone purchase or any future purchase in store or online with no expiration date."

Am I wrong in something? or is best buy in the fault?

We just traded in our Sprint SGSiii for the Verizon SGSiii and had no issues using the $50 gift card for each line at our local Best Buy mobile store. I would try another Best Buy.

I picked mine up this morning. I pre ordered a blue 32GB but was able to switch to white as no Best Buys have the blue 32GB. I was also able to keep my unlimited data.

Same as razortaz18 they didn't have blue 32 for my wife so she traded to blue 16 & it allowed her to keep her unlimited even tho it was not the original preordered phone. My 32white also kept unlimited. Woohoo

I figure, I have 30 days to go back and switch (as soon as they get the 32GB Blues in), if I decide I'd REALLY like the 32GB version.

I got a great deal on amazon- sandisk sdxc 64gb class 10 for $59. So instead of spending another $50 to get 16more gigs spend $10 more and get like quadruple it

Yeah, I did think about that. I just put my old 16GB sd card into my S3. I just wish there was a good way to transfer all my apps & app data from my old phone to this phone...without rooting.

Me too. I do plan on rooting, just not until there's a little more stable way to do it, or at least till someone has a complete step by step guide/one click program for it. But until then, I can't restore all my old app data, since I've always used Titanium Backup.

I'm in the same boat. I'll definitely root...but, as you said, not until there's a more stable way.

I'm not super technically inclined on this front, but all my apps came over to my s3 just fine.. I think it automatically did it when I signed into google.

throughout the conversation it seemed like they already had them in so
i was like "yeah just a bit worried, i ordered june 13th so i ordered pretty early..."
(i am 100% sure i was first to preorder, i was told when i preordered, manager seemed hyped on the phone also)
