Best Buy Pre-Orders

Just preordered about an hour ago and immediately got an email saying it will be ready for pickup tomorrow. Going to go on my lunch break from work. Hopefully they don't give me any activation trouble as I won't have time to do it at lunch and I prefer to do it myself regardless.

Probably won't have much use for the VR, but the market will be flooded with these things and assuming they won't be of much value.

Lucky you ! I ordered yesterday but it still says pre ordered as my status.
 
Ok, gang, please post your pick up experience in the morning for BB online orders for pick up. Let us know if lines were long, what time you went and which city/state store you went to.

I will be going to BB lakeline mall Cedar Park, Texas around noon for pick-up only of my BB online preorder already ready for pick up.

I took tomorrow off, so I'll be there at 10am!!! I'm in Cali...so most of you will probably have all of yours lol.
 
So I was so excited to pick up my phone tomorrow and at 8:50pm they called me and told me that my order wasn't going to be there tomorrow. I ordered the black s8+ for sprint and was told that all other phones were there already including the sprint silver s8. But no other sprint s8 or s8+ would be there and needless to say I am furious. How can this possibly happen? Did this happen to anyone else?
 
Got a call from BB last night about 6 p.m. to set up an appointment to pick up my phone. Scheduled for 1:30 today. I asked about the email stating that I needed to go to the Pick Up desk and then activate it myself. He asked if I ordered in the store and I said yes. He told me to just come right to the Mobile counter. Leaving work at 12:30 since it takes about 45 minutes to get back home to the store. Will post my experience later this evening.

The timing of the pre-order doesn't seem to have much to do with the timing of delivery. I pre-ordered my S8+ (AT&T, gray) late last week, in-store for in-store pickup. Best Buy called me last night and set up an appointment for pickup/activation at 10am this morning.
 
So my full retail order from 4/14 for AT&T midnight black S+ for pickup at Best Buy mobile has still yet to change from preordered although the automated phone status check says it is preparing and the order I placed around 6PM last night for the same at a different Best Buy is in the same boat. I'm going to go to the Best Buy mobile when it opens and see what is going on. I have a sneaking suspicion they don't want to fulfill the order because it was for the phone only, no contract. I didn't call the store yesterday, figuring it would just be a waste of time.
 
I'm back....
Called me around 8 last night telling to come to web order pickup desk at my convenience.... Which will be right at 10AM, as the doors open with my nose pressed up against the glass.
 
No appointment call for me. Just the it's ready to he picked up today, 4/21, email yesterday. Headed out there at around 12

I'm sorry to hear that. I got a call last night to set up an appointment but it was for late in the day. I took a vacation day for this so I didn't want to wait until 6:00 PM. I asked if I just show up this morning if I could pick up my phone without the appointment. He said yes, the phone is there, they're just setting up appointments to help manage the crowds. He said appointments get priority (not in terms of stock but in terms of associates helping them). He also said they had about 150 preorders for in-store pickup so it's probably going to be a hectic day.

I'm going up there around 9:30 to see if there are lines. Thankfully it's raining so maybe that will deter the muggles and make them wait until later. :)

Don't be sorry to hear it. I don't want an appointment. And I'm not setting it up there. I'm walking in, getting it, and leaving. It's paid for and ready to go. I don't expect my bestbuy to be out of control or anything. When I called lady said if I don't get an appointment, I don't have to activate it there, and I can just get it. And considering they screwed up and had me drive halfway there yesterday, I'll be talking to a manager if I have to wait. The wouldn't have needed appointments if they released them yesterday

Agreed. The setup thing is another reason I didn't want the appointment. I'm a big boy. I can do it myself. :) And I want to hear and feel the plastic film coming off the phone..... 🤤
 
Well, turns out the post by best buy to "ignore any dates that suggest your online pre-order won't come on the 21st" were incorrect.

Mine still shows as coming next week. Why would they ship UPS ground one day before release- for something they advertised as release date delivery? They know UPS ground averages 2-4 days. Seems kind of scummy on their part.

Good question. Maybe it's because i'm in a smaller town and they just have a bunch more available than just the pre-ordered items. I'm always hesitant until the phone is in my hands, but I'm going at lunch and hoping the pick-up email is correct!

I happened to be in the shopping center of my BB lastnight so I stopped in...strangely enough this store still does not have a demo unit, however the Target in the same shopping center has had a demo unit of the S8 and S8+ since the 30th. And the BB about 5 miles away has about 8 demo's out but it also has a Samsung display.

Anyway I looked at the cases they had exc (I already have one) but asked the guy if there was any chance I could go ahead and pick up he said 'I wish'. So I asked him about the appointment and if I needed to go to any special place or speak to a certain person. He said "no just come up to the mobile desk, I will be here at the time, you can look for me, but it can be anyone in the mobile department.....I have a feeling we will be very busy tomorrow"
