Hey guys, I pre ordered my Evo 4G LTE online at Best Buy. While reading the Wirefly thread it dawned on me that BB has a price match guarantee. I read the terms and discovered that they won't match Wirefly because they do not have a retail presence BUT Walmart does. I checked Walmart online and they have the phone for $149.99 (in case someone is interested). I called BB to see if they would price match that and they verified. I'm getting $50 applied towards my preorder. You might want to try the same...

I just pre ordered at a best buy store. Is it still the same? How would I go about getting the price match?

From what I understand, they will only do a price match if you call them. If you haven't payed for it yet, I imagine you would have to ask about the price match after purchase. You have 30 days.

A co-worker of mine took his and his wife's EVOs (4G) to Best buy and they offered a $50 trade in, a $50 gift card (which they said could be applied to the purchase of the phone) and also indicated that on the day they pick it up there might be an additional $50 credit as well. This guarantees him $100 per phone but if the additional $50 credit happens then it will only be $50 per phone. We are in Austin, so I'm not sure if this is a local thing or a national thing, but I'm going to be looking into this for sure. Hopefully I would get more for an E3D trade in, but who knows.

I'm also planning on checking Target. I got my E3D for $50 on release day because they had a $150 trade in program at the time. I hope they still have it.

Here's my update: Just got back from Best Buy and this is the deal. If you trade in an EVO 4G, you get a $100 trade-in credit, plus Best Buy is adding another $50 to that. So, with EVO 4G trade-in, the EVO 4G LTE is $50! My dilemma is I have an EVO 3D, an even better phone, IMO, but there is no special deal for the E3D but they looked at my phone's condition and said they would give me $60 for it if I wanted to trade it in. REALLY?? $40 less for a phone that is way better?!? Go figure. My other dilemma is that I am not eligible for my update until June 1st! Best Buy informed me that I could contact Sprint and they could move my eligible date up by two weeks. This would land on on the... 18th!!! So, I called Sprint and they said they could move my upgrade date up, but not until the day of the 18th. So now I have to call Sprint first thing in the morning and ask them to move my upgrade date up so that I will be good to go when I go to Best Buy to pick up my new EVO! They said it can take anywhere from 2 to 4 hours before the update shows up in the system, so call them first thing in the morning. Another little catch 22 that I uncovered: My wife has an EVO 4G! I am going to sawp my phone onto her line and put her phone on my line, which shouldn't cost a thing to do! Now my wife will get an upgrade to my awesome E3D with custom ICS ROM and I will get the $100 trade in at Best Buy towards my new EVO 4G LTE! What a swizzle! It all works out in the end!

Just left my Best Buy this afternoon and was told the same 100 bux working or not! Also I have had my local Best Buy match target and walmart multiple times, you just need to be persuasive and talk to the managers. Plus it helps if you are buying their insurance and buy back program, thats their bread and butter, if they let you go elsewhere then they are losing out on more than the 50 bux.

Did the guy go through BestBuy's internal system (on their computer) to determine the price, or did he just take a look at your phone and give a rough estimate?

If your Evo 3D is in good condition, BestBuy should give you $110.

The first thing I did was read all of BB's rules for price match. They will price match Walmart because they have a bricks and mortar presence. If you go to Walmart.com and look at their Sprint phone page, near the bottom (which is strange) you will find the 4g LTE. Click on it to see the price and you will see it's $149.99. I called BB, told them about the price, told them that it's the same price if I order it in the store, they put me on hold and checked it out, came back and told me I have the price match. That was it. That's beside any other deal they have going.

The only cheapest route for me to get the Evo Lte and also keep my E3d is to do the buy up program that Sprint offers..Sprint told me $165 for the buy up and I can get the Evo Lte for $199 total $365..
This would allow me to give my wife my E3d and get rid of her Evo Design..
This sucks...

Evo 3D ViperROM v.2.5 downgraded HBoot 1.5 to 1.4

Here's the problem. How do you and Best Buy know that it's the same price in stores? When I go to contract phones on Walmart's website and go to the new evo, there is a red rectangle with the words "Offer and Price Valid Online Only." From my understanding on Best Buy's price match, they don't cover online only prices.

When i called best buy i told them i wanted to price math walmart for the evo 4g lte. They said i can but cant do it until best buy has the evo in stock >.<

But are they still giving you the $50 gift card that is part of the Best Buy pre-order deal and matching the $149.99 price Walmart price? Or are they just price matching the $149.99 from Walmart? I doubt they will still give you the $50 gift card if you are price matching as part of a pre-order.

I am speaking about the Best Buy deal on this page. evo lte - BestBuy

I got the gift card also. That was a separate deal, well before I thought of and saw Walmart's price. At the time I spoke to them, they looked up the price online, then put me on hold while he called to verify. I had called Walmart first and was told that that was the price you'd get if you ordered in the store too, so I was covered.

How do you know you got the gift card since you did it online? It show's up on your receipt? I pre-ordered in the store so I don't know how online pre-ordering worked.

I bet most people are not going to get the $50 pre-order gift card deal and be able to price match at $149.99 especially if they pre-ordered this phone in a BB store and are picking up at a store. I will try to do it but I am not banking on it working. Hey, who knows I guess it all depends on who you speak to and what kind of mood they are in that day.

Do you think I should ask when purchasing the phone or wait until after? Do you speak with customer service or the mobile department?

Nothing about that price match guarantee invalidates the claim that this is possible or says that the promotion would be voided for price-matched phones. Your logic is faulty. Calling to confirm is a good idea anyway, but otherwise that's all FUD.
