Best Buy To Stop Selling Droid Pro? What?

So I had a friend looking for an Android device last night at Best Buy, he wanted something along the same form as a Blackberry. I told him to grab the Droid Pro, but the Best Buy rep told him his boss told him to stop selling them and didn't know why. So now he's freaked out there maybe something wrong with them...which would of been said on here already...and hasn't. What up with this?

I don't know how official this is, but I heard from a Moto rep that he suspects that it has something to do with Verizon, Moto and agreements made with distributors regarding pricing. Best Buy, and others, have been selling the Pro for quite a bit less than Verizon. I noticed Verizon is still selling the Pro...so, who knows. I don't believe it has anything to do with a technical issue with the phone.

I don't think the Pro was a big seller like they were hoping it would be. It kind of shows you that the form-factor is faltering.

I think it's a cover for something else. Why would Verizon only shut down Best Buy sales, and not all the other dozens of places they are free or less than vzw corporate stores? It's probably Best Buy trying to renegotiate their rebates from vzw. They lowered the pricing, so vzw lowered the per unit rebate to bb. BB gets tough and pulls from the shelf.

Completely fabricated, but just as plausible as the price floor argument.

Did the Droid Pro get discontinued or something? Give it some time. I run into more and more blackberry users that see my dp and say "you know, i've been thinking about getting one of those" and begin to ask me questions. Game over.

its not discontinued. as many have mentioned on here, its only BB that has pulled them, and from articles i have read so far, it was a pull that was instituted by verizon. no one will know the actual reason why unless one of the parties speaks up about it, but tell your BB friends to check out the pro with confidence

IMHO, the only challenge for the Droid Pro versus Blackberry is the corporate exchange sync or BIS for non-corporate users. All you have to do is read the threads on Android/Droid forums. I'm amazed that the "stakeholders" in this business haven't got the message yet. If Moto/Verizon/Google (or someone) doesn't make syncing their phone with Outlook a seamless, painless, no third party app BS effort, then they will not sell as many Pro's as they'd like...and gmail IS NOT the answer. No one, including myself, wants to manage ANOTHER email account just so they can do what Palm and Blackberry have been able to do since PDA's were first introduced to the marker. They need to focus on what the customer wants...not what they THINK is best for the customer because of some cultural preference. And they want PUSH email...not gmail fetch that sometimes works and sometimes it doesn't. Well, I guess that is enough of my "rant".

I has a blackberry user for a long time but didn't use outlook I used Gmail. Only people who use it more for business use out look. If you look on sites like crackberry who have tons of users only about 2 in 10 are business users so I feel the majority uses don't care about outlook sync. So the droid pro is going in the right direction to make a dent in that market. And I have also found that android Gmail is just as fast as my blackberry Gmail was. So I don't know what the huge issue is with push email, I don't get it any faster or slower.

The threads I have been reading leads me to believe that there must be a lot of issues with exchange sync...and a fair number of people who have made the switch from BB to Pro and are having problems...and the Pro is not the first Android phone with this problem...according to Moto. I guess it all depends on what you're use to...how you use the phone, what you want out of it and how willing you are to change...and we know how people love to change.

Well, I just bought the pro it's great! Was a Blackberry user for a long time?? learning like geek interesting??

My exchange sync works without a hitch. The only issue I've had so far was when I installed the 2.2.260 update. Had to delete and re-add my exchange server and reboot. Of course I'm not sure if the deleting or the rebooting did the trick, so maybe all it needed was a reboot.

Are you using push?
Mine most certainly does not work without a hitch. sometimes i get emails in seconds, other times its takes 20 minutes. Occasionally it takes hours. I've tried multiple exchange clients with push enabled and they all do the exact same thing.
