This is my tale of two cases, in 2 days. . .
1) Otterbox Defender
My Pixel 2 arrived yesterday morning, before I was even out of .bed. Before opening it I went to Verizon and bought an Otterbox Defender––I know, I know, the bulk. But I wanted to try it first so I slid the unwrapped phone into the Defender without ever touching it as I didn't want fingerprints under the screen protector. Later in the afternoon I was in my car and picked up the phone only to see dust all over the screen. I wiped it off but realized that the dust was underneath the screen protector. This was frustrating, especially given that the screen had never been touched before putting it in the case. There was also a little space between the screen protector and glass of the phone so that you had to push harder to make contact with the screen. I have always had an Otterbox on my iPhone 5, which has been living the life of iPod luxury for the past 3 years, and it's still pristine and I've never had these issues with it.
I called Otterbox today because I received a 15% discount code for a Halloween promotion. I asked about these issues and the CSR assured me that something like this would be covered with the lifetime warranty and that they "would only charge me $5.95 for shipping." I asked the guy to clarify that they would actually charge me this fee to replace something that was defective and he assured me this was true. So I politely hung up the phone and went to the Verizon store.
2) Incipio DualPro
While this case is supposedly drop-tested to 12 feet, I don't actually think that I phone would survive a 12-foot drop in tact. I think Incipio is taking some poetic license with this so-called rating. However, the case is fairly protective and has a nice deep lip protecting the glass. It's much more protective than the photos at the Incipio website show. I've heard mixed reviews regarding the soft touch material, some saying that it's very slippery. I don't find it to be that slippery but itsn't exactly grippy either, but I do think that the phone is easy to hold with it. It's not as grippy as the Defender but it's easier to hold the phone than with the Defender. And it's freakin' beatiful! The iridescent red is just stunning. –Not that I like red or anything . . .
I've tried to upload the photos but it says they're too large.
