Best cases for Google Pixel 2

I don't have all three, so can't compare. I do have the Speck Presidio Grip. I use it almost all the time, even though I have four other cases. I'd say the protection is as good or better than the Otterbox Commuter. The buttons are easy to press. It's got a nice secure feel in the hand.

I don't upgrade phones that often like maybe some of you so in turn don't have that much experience with different cases. I had a Commuter on my Droid Turbo for three years and I definitely needed that much protection. I dropped my phone many times and even the tempered glass screen protector cracked but my Droid kept on ticking.

Guess I always related cases that had dual layers to have superior protection... are you saying that's not always the case?

Ive always been suspicious of cases selling for $10 -$15 touting that much drop protection whether it be single or dual layer. I can more believe cases in the $30 + range to have better protection since you usually get what you pay for.

Is this all hype where manufacturers tout scientific reasons (material the case is made of) why their case can withstand so many foot drops?

I got one of the fabric cases at the Verizon store. usually I don't like a case on my phones but with the pixel 2 XL and the camera protruding from the back it wouldn't rest flat on a flat surface. Also my last phone was a moto Z-Force and when you dropped it the magnetic back just popped off and took the force of the impact. I needed something to do that for this phone.

I went with the Ringke clear case ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075Q96XF...ag=hawk-future-20&ascsubtag=UUacUvbUpU6135866 my Panda. It's really clear and lets you see the orange power button. I also went with the dbrand black dragon skin just to cover the rear glass. Got that to protect the glass from any dirt or dust that gets inside the case and to make it a little different. Also got the G logo in the dragon skin just for looks. I'll try to take pictures of everything later. The couple I have exceed the file size limit.

I tried out one of the Tech 21 cases from Verizon but it definitely wasn't worth 45 bucks for me. I took it back and told them it was just too bulky for me and they looked at me like I was a crazy person... Lol
I've ordered that case as well. I'm very curious to see your setup with the dbrand skins, is it possible for you to post some pictures, please? Cheers

How does it fit with the skin on the glass? I have the dragon skin covering the entire back of the phone.
Seems fine to me but I only have the glass piece which is slightly recessed so there's no lip. I've taken it off and on several times with no lifting. I'm not sure how a skin wrapping around the edges would do. This case is definitely easier to take off than the Tech21 case I had so I wouldn't imagine it would be problem once the adhesive had really set.

Well I ended up going with a Speck Presidio Grip and sent back the Incipio Dualpro. The Dualpro seems a little slippery to me while I love how grippy the Grip is.

Don’t know if I’m convinced the Grip provides that much protection or not... but at least it’ll be harder to drop.:)

Should I have any issues using a glass screen protector like a Whitestone Dome with the Grip?

I have. I like it.
I'm debating if I should get the cement color first my black Pixel 2, which arrives tomorrow.
Which color is the case and which color is your Pixel 2? How long do you have it? Does it get stains easily? Is it really slippery?
Cheers

I have the darkest one. I guess it's called midnight. My phone is black as well. I've had it since Thursday. I find it to be less slippery than the naked phone, and I haven't had any issues with it getting dirty. From everything I've read, it can be kept clean with a damp cloth.

Thanks. Do you believe that the cement one (grey) would look nice with the black Pixel?
Cheers

I usually buy Spigen cases. However I ended up buying the LifeProof fre. Fits great no issues. The only thing I don't like is the speaker sounds muffled. I bought this case because I live in Hawaii it's certified to protect the pixel 2xl from salt water.

I have a Pixel 2... Been rotating thru 3 cases...

1. Spigen Thin Fit
2. Ringke Bevel - Smoke Black
3. Spigen Rugged Armour

I love the minimal design on the Thin Fit and that I finally have a dedicated spot for the metal plate for my car mount. The only drawback is the lack of drop protection.

I also am really impressed by the Ringke, first time Ringke user. Great grip, minimal fingerprints and looks great with my just black Pixel 2. Haven't had any major drops with it but feel confident it can hold its own.

The let down of the group is Rugged Armour... I find the case to be more slippery than a naked phone... And it seems to add a significant amount of bulk for a TPU case.

I tried several cases & now I have the Incipio Dualpro on my Pixel 2 (non XL) & am pretty happy with it.

The only tiny negative is that the case wasn't designed with a little extra room between the 2 layers, so there's ever so slight of a bulge from the plate for my magnetic car mount (you can't see it, but it's there). I now have a thin round metal plate between the case layers & that fits better than the more rectangular plate I originally had in there. The rectangular one was pushing out a couple hairs on the back edge near the logo, & my fingers found that annoying. Thankfully the round disc works ok.
