best cheap/free 100% offline maps and navigation

Would caching the maps in Google Maps count? I guess navigation may not work offline.

I've tried Google maps offline, only one word comes to mind....pathetic, to use the search and navigation feature you still need a data connection. (this does not help at all)

So far map factor navigator ( https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...ils?id=com.mapfactor.navigator&token=dmlAo8G5 ) is the best that suits me but its hard to use, I'm looking for something better and I'm prepared to pay for it...I know I know, I'm fussy when it comes to my apps but I can't help it if I want the best of what I can get. It's my personality.

Understood. I thought that was the case with Google Maps, I've just never had to use it offline. Sorry I can't help you more. Good luck with your search. Let us know what you find.

I have the trimble outdoor navagator and paide for the whole state of montana packet. Pricey but turned my phone into a usable gps with no service or data. I just download what maps for the area that I am going to be in when I have data or wi fi. I do carry a spare back up battery because it can be a power drain though

how much were the maps ? just so I can get some idea before purchasing the paid version.

the app was like $5 and the pack of maps for Montana was about $20. you can also buy maps buy county or national park. the price is not worth it. cheaper to buy whole state

how do you navigate from your current location to your destination ? I just see all this route planner stuff, please direct me on what to press in the app. eg .route planner > etc (im still using the free version)

I forget what the price is, and Play will only show me that I have it installed, but Copilot Live Premium USA works for me. It includes map downloads/updates for the US. You can download the whole US, or just specific regions to save storage and download times... either way, you want to be on wi-fi for map loads and updates.

I haven't tried any others, but last weekend I was in an area where I didn't have cell coverage, and it helped me get where I wanted to go. I also have it loaded on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7" for a nice large 7" GPS.

When I am on the map I click the go to button at bottom and select the waypoint that I have marked on the map. I know there is a way but havn't figured it out yet to enter lat longs manually. Right now just click on map and zoom in to where i want to go, mark the spot. then click go to

Is there a version available for RSA (South Africa) ?

Looks like I'm just going to settle with map factor navigator. It's free, no adds and premium quality.

the best free offline maps is (rmaps).
first, you will need to download (mobile atlas creator version 1.8) on your pc, which allow you to download google maps of any where and any size. unlimited. note: select map source (google maps). zoom level (17 is good for cities). atlas settings (format: RMaps SQLite). then create it.
then, insall (rmaps) on phone.
coply paste the saved maps the (phone memory> rmaps> maps). then open rmaps>settings>user defined maps> select the maps.
it work great. i have all europe (google maps) saved on my phone. enjoy.
