I've used a 30% solution of IPA and distilled water along with a micro-fiber cloth to clean the glass over the 3G iPhone LCD but the Evo has a plastic cover over the LCD and I'm not sure I want to experiment with 30% IPA without confirmation. So, what's the deal with cleaning solutions and plastic covered LCD screens?

That's the first I've heard that the Evo has a plastic cover; everything I've heard is glass.

That said, as a chemist I can assure you that 30% iPrOH / water is not going to touch or mar the kinds of plastics that'd be used for something like this. That solution is very hydrophilic, and isn't going to penetrate to any significant effect.

One warning: use sparingly. There are two water indicator patches on the inside of the phone, so that Sprint can tell if the phone got wet. This solution would trigger those patches if they were to come into contact and Sprint could get huffy if you tried to bring the phone in under warranty or insurance. So don't slop the solution around - just wet the cloth and rub gently.

Wow, do you really need it to be dumbed down anymore than it already is?

i will be using sunglass hut lens microfiber cloth and cleaning solution. spray on cloth - not on device!

I just throw it in a pocket and put it in with the laundry, but I do use a second Bounce sheet in the dryer for the static electricity. And if I'm in a hurry, there's always the shower (don't ask where I clip the holster).

While isopropyl alcohol / water is surely safe, I was planning to only clean my Evo's screen with triple-filtered unicorn tears. They make the colors so much more vibrant.
