Best screen protector?

Screen Films

I'm not as familiar with the glass screen phones, but I know this was a huge topic of discussion when the Pre came out. Massive threads complete with high res. pictures, comparisons, ease of installation, etc.

Phantomskinz and Best Skins Ever came out as the winners in the reviews. I have tried all three, and I agree with the reviewers on the Phantomskinz. I have dropped my Pre several times and it comes out unscathed each time. It doesn't interfere with the usage of the Pre at all, and has a much smoother surface than the Zagg with much less "orange peel" effect.

What I will probably end up doing is buying the Zagg skin when I get the phone at Best Buy, because that's what they carry, and order the Phantomskinz to replace the Zagg eventually.

The glass on my Q9c did scratch, obviously not as much as a plastic screen would have. I put my phones in my pockets which can sometime also carry other things. Would rather not take any chances even if I'm only keeping the phone a year.

Screen protector?

I currently have a DROID for work but getting EVO for personal use. The DROID does not require a screen protector as it is very scratch resistant.

What about the EVO?

It's not required. The phone seems to be fairly scratch resistant, but it wouldn't hurt to get one either.

I'm wondering if a screen protector would affect the functionality of the touchscreen.

They are usually made with that in mind. Buy a trusted brand and all should be well. I still prefer to keep my phone naked though.

Problem is you better get a screen protector because it is plastic like the Pre & the Incredible.

I've used Boxwave screen protectors in the past and have typically had good results with them. The only time I didn't like it was for my Touch Pro 2. The screen has some strange angles due to the buttons so the corners wouldn't adhere properly. But one I got from Seidio had the same problem so it's probably due more to the shape of the device rather than the quality of the screen protector. Since the EVO is one giant rectangle I double it'll be an issue.

I'm too paranoid of dropping my phone to not have a screen protector and a case. My upgrade date isn't until a couple months after release so I'll let everyone else be the screen protector guinea pigs :D

They are pretty good. I just went ahead and ordered one (HD2 is same size as Evo) so that I can put it on immediately when I get my Evo. They have them on sale right now for $10.99.

HTC Touch HD2 T8585 Screen Protector from Clarivue

Actually, the glass on the EVO is larger than the HD2. The protectors for the EVO cover the entire screen including the capacitive buttons below the LCD screen. Everything except the speaker grill is covered. The HD2 has physical buttons that do not get covered. Be sure to order a screen protector specifically made for the EVO.

It's not going to prevent a cracked screen if you drop the device. Scratches, sure but nothing more.

I had a "bestskinsever" skin on my Pre. The thing saved my phone. I had it fall out of my sweatshirt pocket onto a blacktop parking lot (it was a cold miserable night and had to be outside for a little longer while, I was almost numb). It would have cracked the entire screen had it not been for that protector. Since then I've continued to get the protection.

When I bought my hero I had BB put a Zagg on it (I had a certificate for RewardZone that I needed to spend a decent amount of money to use it). That was nice to have someone do it with the proper tools. If they have a Zagg at BestBuy when I pick it up on June 4th I will have them put a full body skin on it.
