They won't give away Sprint's 2 high end smartphones for free as an upgrade.

If Verizon is giving away a Fascinate, why wouldn't Sprint step up to the plate and give away the Epic. After all isn't this about getting new users.
I would jump on the sprint Bandwagon in a heart beat.

I hope they do give the epic for free, I was planing on getting 3 epics last Tuesday but free phone Fridays stop me. I would be saving $690 plus tax, so this is a bid deal to me. I hope to see it next Friday.

If Verizon is giving away a Fascinate, why wouldn't Sprint step up to the plate and give away the Epic. After all isn't this about getting new users.

Because Verizons main emphasis is the Droid. Don't expect them to be giving those out for free. They would also give out the pre for free when they had a big overstock on them. It all comes down to inventory. When thy need to move the phones they will give them away or give them for a good price
