Between the N5's underwhelming battery and the "Insanely Not-Great" camera, I'll pass for now

I wouldn't update from n4 to n5 just because it ruins the value of the n4 to only get one year of use.

That said, LTE is a "can't go back" kind of upgrade. Not quite dial-up to DSL, but closer than you would expect.

Root. Enable LTE on your phone. Problem solved

When a new Nexus comes out, I just HAVE to buy it.
Started with the gnex. Was good at first, then the flaws start dawning on you. The poor radio, poor camera, abysmal battery life.

Then the n4. Better everything. Best of all the n4 got me away from vzw. Cut my bill in half. Nuff said.

Now the n5. I studied both screens and n5 is sharper, clearer better. Camera, battery is better. LTE is big time.

Bottom line, every generation gets better. Who doesn't like a better phone?

Ref the OP's point on the OIS quality and its effect on video recordings: I too came to the same conclusion, particularly after being blown away by the judder free video recording on the Lumia 925 (also with OIS).

The N5 appears to stutter along quite badly. However, on closer inspection, the culprit appears not to be the OIS but the auto focus. It seems to be forever hunting for the correct setting, giving the video a juddery quality. Once you see this it becomes easier to see that the OIS is actually doing a pretty decent job, but is being undermined by the auto focus.

I'm hopeful that this is an issue Google will address. Auto focus is the single biggest problem with the N5 camera (both video and still), for my money.

I love my Nexus 5, but understand if anyone passes due to the camera experience. It's not bad, but it could be better, especially in light of Google's promise to end poor camera experiences on the Nexus line.

Fancy seeing you here.

Yeah, the auto-focus is obnoxious, and not just for video. But so many people are complaining about it, I am confident Google will fix it.

Wait so can I just confirm, have you used a Nexus 5 or just watched a few reviews on youtube?

I find the camera to be VERY good, I can zoom in on photos and there's no noise and it's extremely clear...the camera has far exceeded what I expected to be honest.
I'm not having an issue with battery life, I can go all day and still not have to charge it.

I haven't had issues with the battery either. I went over a day on one charge.

Do you think you have a likelyhoid of keeping the Nexus 5?

Definitely. Best smartphone to date. Battery life is sufficient, and the camera is better than my previous device (HTC One), so I'm pleased. The camera and battery life both could be better, but they suffice for now.

And KitKat is fantastic.

I remember last year you not liking the Nexus 4. Unlike me not having any issues.

Ha, yeah. That's how I ended up with the iPhone 5 and then shortly after that the HTC One. Quite satisfied with the Nexus 5. Wireless charging (my first time using it) is amazing too.

You rockin' the Nexus 5?

If only:(
I would love to but my dad doesn't see the point in upgrading me. I might as well upgrade the iPad 2 to a Nexus 7 as I like smaller tablets and wanna get more in the Android ecosystem.
The main problems that I see with the Nexus 4,battery and camera weren't as improved as I hoped so I'll ride it out. Maybe that's just a lame attempt to make me feel better about not having the 5:P
