Bionic's still coming, is defintely new hardware - XT875

You really call that a review??? Honestly??? What did they say? They don't like Moto's Pentile Screen, that is a matter of personal preference. Just pick up a DX2 and decide if you like it or not. The only other thing that was a negative they said was that it:
Motorola Droid 3 Gives Up its Secrets in In-Depth Hands-On Review

So lets recap:
They don't like the Pentile Screen
They arent sure if there is Enough Ram even though it has steller benchmarks.

That is blasting the phone? They didn't comment on anything else, was the phone fast? Smooth? Good Camera? Like or Dislike new Blur..

Was a pretty lousy "review" if you can call it that.
I've seen the pentile on the Atrix when it first came out and I was appalled by it. DX2 has the same screen, D3 will have the same screen, it's assumed the Bionic will have same.

It's like Motorola is clueless when it comes to hardware. I was loyal Moto fan. I can't make excuses for them nor will I. This should NOT be happening. When you look at what LG, Samsung and HTC are putting out you have to wonder where the hell Moto's head is in this game. It's clear the other manufacturers have a grasp of what it takes to keep consumers AND enthusiasts interested.

Motorola is in left field somewhere. This is unbelievable

Call me blind or crazy but I can not see what the problem with the Pentile Screen is. I have held the DX2, T-Bolt and Charge next to eachother and watched video on all 3. My personal opinion is the sAMOLED+ colors are too bright and cartoony, I prefer the T Bolt screen, but the DX2 Screen is not bad at all. Its a lot crisper than my OG Droid I am still using.

I just get the feeling a lot of people who Dog the Pentile Screen have either never seen one and played with it, or hold the phone about 6" away from their face to look for what others say is an issue. Just my .02 cents.

I have used the Atrix a little bit. My brother has one and I thought that the screen was pretty nice. I was not trying to focus on the screen to see the flaws but trying to see the overall performance. I did not think that it was that bad at all. I could have missed something along the way but that was my take on it. Until we see the actual specs released for the Bionic and the Droid 3 (not the Milestone 3) there may be some hope left. I am a loyal Moto user, I have been for years. This could be a turning point though. I will just have to wait and see.

Sucks you are one of the people that can see it. Kind of like motion blur on a TV, everyone says they hate it but most people can't even see it.

Not saying I am for or against the Pentile screen, but there are power savings in there. Those Thunderbolt screens look nice when they aren't sitting on a charger 3 times a day.

exactly, i feel people overblow the whole pentile screen sooo out of proportion its not even funny. I bet its the same people that screams for the best dual core, 2gig of ram, 13MP camera. Is it the best possible screen available? probably not. But if it really saves as much battery as they say, then im all for it.

There are always pro's and con's to every device no doubt. I think the mention of the battery/power savings is something of MAJOR importance that I overlooked in my rants :) One balances out the other so to speak.

I was looking at dx2 and charge side by side, and I feel the charge's screen would drive me crazy with the greatly oversaturated colors. And not just oversaturated, but wrong too, kinda like that update for the nexus that made everything a bit yellowish.

I found I much preferred the screen on the dx2.

I disagree...reading text on them is VERY bothersome in my opinion.

You WILL notice it whether it bothers you or not is another question.

I dont deny wheather you can tell or not. But im sure for me personally as long as you dont put it next to a SGII for example you will never notice it being "bad".

Sort of like the Xoom's screen imo. On its own i think it looks great, but thats only until you put it next to an ipad.

Jasper check out this pic. This is what I'm talking about. It's quite noticable the longer you use it. It will slowly drive you insane :)

I assume you are talking about the highlighted battery life display blown up x50?? I challenge anyone to take any phone out there, including the sAMOLED+ and do the same exact thing and see how clear it looks. That is kind of my point, if you are holding the phone 6" away from your face i am sure you will see the pixels. But for most people at the majority of the viewing range this screen will be more than adequate. Outside viewing is great, viewing angles are decent. But again, this is just matter of opinion.

On a side note, the pictures that they took (with the camera on the milestone 3) appeared to be very promising. atleast i think so.

I dont like the pentile screen either. I can see the difference in the screen and it sucks. I have good eyes and it is a curse sometimes. Funny thing is, despite my good eyes I still suck at COD. I want a bad mass screen, but not at the expense of quality. Super Amoled+ is so pretty.

Talking actually about reading text on the pentile. You don't need to hold it 6" from your face to see what I'm talking about. Go into AT&T and demo the browser. Zoom in, not an aggresive zoom but just a zoom to read better and tell me if you don't see it. If you have half way decent eyesight you will pick up on it right away.

You need to do more than just look at the homescreen display to see how a screen really looks.

I do see what you are talking about. I have compared DX2 and the Charge Many, Many times. The Pentile display does not produce straight lines as well. My understanding is that Pentile RGBWB only uses 2 Subpixels per pixel vs RGB screens like the sAMOLED+ that have 3 Subpixels per pixel. So overall clarity especially when zoomed in is not nearly as good.

But the basis which they judge Screen Resolution on does not include the number of Sub Pixels, so while the Charge has less Resolution than the DX2 the image results are still clearer.

And No, my eye sight is not Great. But the screen just doesn't seem as bad to me as what I read. I am also however not convinced that the save in power that PenTile Pushers claim is the added benefit is truly there. I guess we will see on the Bionic. I will admit that if I had a choice for the Bionic or any of Moto's phones to use traditional RGB vs. the Pentile RGBWB screen, would not choose Pentile. But it isn't so bad that I will not buy the Bionic.

Or six months from now I will come on here and say Damn't CK you were right, this stupid Bionic Screen gives me headaches and I will go out and buy something else.

Magnifying the screen pic like that is completely meaningless. It's like standing a foot from a billboard and complaining how pixelated it looks (most billboards are printed at around 60 dpi).

That said, ones perception of color, graphics and video motion is highly individualized. Apparently there are artifacts with pentile displays that some can see, but most can't. Sounds like early DLP projectors with slower color wheels. Some, myself included, could see RGB fringing in faster action. Drove me nuts while people next to me had no idea what I was talking about.

Bashing pentile and Motorola seems to be the 'in' thing lately based on incomplete information and non real world tests.

As far as pentile goes, I'm withholding judgement until I get some good face time with it. But I also read pentile helps with viewing in daylight, if that's the case, and I'm not one of the unlucky few that sees the defects, count me in.

My fishing / work Buddy has the DX2. We were in his boat Sunday, Bright as can be outside, I was wearing my Polarized Sunglasses and could read and see everything on his phone without any issue. I was very impressed.

Yeah Jasper I do A LOT of reading so I noticed it right away. Like I said before you may or may not be bothered by it.

I just wish instead of trying to cut costs they would go with a better overall quality screen.
