Winston, am I right here?

Sometimes silence is confirmation. ;) I'll bet you're right. And I'll still bet I'm right, too. Thor is brand new. I bet it didn't play nice with Nvidia.

"The ThorM7400 and ThorM7300 modems are based on a common architecture, enabling ST-Ericsson and its customers to benefit from shorter time-to-market by re-using of modem certification and application processor interfaces across platforms, reducing time-to-market. The new Thor modems are also pin-to-pin compatible which enables customers to completely reuse their design across the two platforms."

Phil May Be Right About Launch Closer Than We Think

Remember, Sanjay said that the Bionic and LTE to Xoom would happen at the same time? Well, get a load of this:

An email was received by a tipster over at Phandroid from Motorola stating this:

"Thank you for submitting your Motorola Xoom for the 4G LTE upgrade. You should have recently received a package in the mail with instructions and materials for returning your device for the upgrade.

Our records indicate that we have not yet received your Motorola Xoom. If you are still interested in upgrading your Motorola Xoom, this is a friendly reminder to please follow the instructions provided in your upgrade package and ship your device back for the upgrade.

If you have already shipped your device back to us, please contact us at 1-800-734-5870 and one of our support specialists will assist you with tracking and completing your order."

Coming out same time does not literally mean coming out EXACT same time. It means maybe within a month or 2 timeframe

A post from a Motorola support tech about the upgrade,

"I looked into this and learned what happened here. A very small number of Motorola XOOM users received that email from Motorola regarding the 4G LTE upgrade process. While we are excited about being able to offer the upgrade this summer -- and we know you are too -- the email was sent in error. We apologize for any confusion this may have caused."

Well, I didn't mean the exact same day which would be physically impossible given the Xoom has to be shipped back and is dependent on the user and when they ship it. But I would think "releasing at the same time" would be within a couple weeks of each other not months. And if people were getting notices in June, a July release would seem very possible.

Ahhhhhhh.......

Oh, and did you see what else Winston had to say about the RAM and webtop over at HoFo? Hmmm? :p

"I think webtop has amazing potential, especially if the 3rd party community starts working it. Being Linux based that shouldn't be that hard.
As for its effect on a phone, don't believe those people trashing it so hard. Your phone doesn't use all the RAM anyway. They just hate extra stuff on their, regardless if it affects it or not.
If you run into a situation where you need the RAM the webtop has reserved, than you are doing way to much at one time on your phone."

I'm really digging Winston. He inadvertently supports my speculation. :D

Bummer. Well, at least they have the letters prepped and ready to go.

I would be so pissed if I had a xoom and got one of these letters and sent my xoom away only to get it sent back without LTE lol.

Except that LTE chip is still almost a year away from being in a phone, I am guessing you don't want the program delayed that much. ;)

VZW to have GSII in July

Verizon confirms sales of its Galaxy S II 'superphone' start in July - Computerworld

So that may impact some of your plans. 3 g though

Computerworld - Verizon Wireless on Wednesday confirmed that it plans to start selling the Samsung Galaxy S II "superphone" sometime in July, making it one of several U.S. carriers that are expected to sell the device.

Galaxy S II smartphone
In a crowded smartphone market, the Samsung Galaxy S II has garnered unusual attention as it joins a new category dubbed "superphones."

The device has a 1.2 GHz dual core processor and a 4.3-in. Super Amoled Plus touchscreen display. Such features have impressed reviewers around the globe. A reviewer for PC World in Australia recently said the Android device outdoes even the popular Apple iPhone 4.

The Samsung Galaxy S II, first shown at the Mobile World Congress in February, is already on sale in Asia and Europe.

A Verizon spokeswoman said via email that the device is expected to go on sale by the carrier in July, but added that there's "no date just yet." Verizon is reported by Engadget to be using the name "Samsung Galaxy S 2 Function," for the device. Engadget adds that AT&T will use "Samsung Galaxy S 2 Attain" and Sprint will use "Samsung Galaxy S 2 Within."

A Sprint official wouldn't comment on the release date. AT&T couldn't be reached for comment.

The Samsung device has been tested and reviewed on the network of T-Mobile USA by a PC World US reviewer, though the carrier has yet to disclose its name and availability there.

T-Mobile did not respond to a request to comment.

A PC World US review called the device "stunning and speedy" on T-Mobile's network, but criticized call quality as "just average" with some distortion.

That review noted that the Galaxy S II runs Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), an upgrade over the Android 2.2 (Froyo) mobile OS that still runs most other devices. The reviewer said Galaxy S II compares well with other powerful smartphones on the market, such as the HTC Evo 3D, Motorola Atrix 4G and HTCThunderBolt.

Galaxy S II is 4.9 x 2.6 by 0.3 inches, and weighs 4 ounces, less than many powerful superphones that can weigh 5 ounces or more. Reviewers have been impressed with its 8-megapixel rear-facing camera, making it comparable to other high-end phones. Video calls are supported by a front-facing 2 megapixel camera.

The Wall Street Journal reported on a Galaxy S II launch in Hong Kong this week, and quoted one official saying that the device will roll out to 140 carriers later this month. Bloggers, and now Verizon, however, are citing ship dates in July.

Unlocked, the device has been priced by various retailers at between $700 and $800. U.S. carriers, though, are expected to subsidize the price for users that buy a two-year service contract. The price tag with such a contract is expected to be between $250 and $300.

The first-generation Galaxy S went on sale last year. Some 14 million units have reportedly been sold.

Yes they say it is "comparable" to the HTC Evo 3D, Motorola Atrix 4G and HTC ThunderBolt, but it still is not LTE on Verizon so the 3G will be the bottleneck.

I would rather give up the pretty screen and have LTE, but that is my own preference.

HoD, you can have the pretty screen and LTE, just get a Charge. It's not slow at all, and development is taking off. No dual core, but I'm still skeptical of how much of an advantage that is at this point.

There's a good chance the Galaxy SII will be 4g, and if it does come with an unlocked bootloader, cya Bionic.
