Black one doesn't stand up well to everyday use.

It's a demo phone. Her husband is a manager at sprint. It even had some kind of silver stickers on the back with a bar code and a bunch of numbers.

Not trying to be an a$$, do you need some help? Someone to talk to?? Seriously!

I KNEW IT! Something just looks off, even with the grainy pics. You could make an argument that the second shot looks like it could be real, but the third shot absolutely shows the painted "holes". Excellent catch.

I just noticed, too, that the back arrow button doesn't extend past the speaker grille in the photo. That's not how the device actually looks. Unless it's fake, of course.

Pictures are grainy because they were taken with a sgs3 in a very low light situation. The scuffs wouldn't show with the flash so I had to use night mode and zoom in all the way. That was the best I could get it focused. It was done during a double dinner date

From what I understand the Black One became available a few days ago, online or telesales via Sprint, the corporate stores do not have the Black One.
You don't know much then. Sorry but stop thread crapping. Are you to really believe it would have stood up better without a case and being in a purse? It's the same issue as iPhone 5. Just wait till its more publicly released, you will see many more threads pop up on this.

The silver one doesn't seem to suffer from this issue

The sticker with numbers and a barcode is likely the serial, model, and esn, since the battery is unremovable they stick it on a sticker and put it on the back.

Explain the fact that the speaker grille on the device has no actual holes. They look like the indentations you would get when making a cheap display model made out of plastic.

IMO (emphasis on MO) this is the allure of the black one; i love when aluminum items accumulate small scuffs, gives the item a nice patina. I have a few other day to day things that are anodized black aluminum or similar and the end effect is one similar in notion to lightly scuffed jeans, or frays on your favorite ball-cap. I'm sure not all enjoy that look, but that's not only my expectation, is my desire. This is coming from a guy that has not polished his 18k gold wedding band even once ;)

This is why I opted for a gold wedding band instead of a diamond.

I guess we'll have to take your word for it, but it just doesn't look right. It doesn't look like there are holes in the speaker grille and the back arrow isn't in the right spot, relative to the speaker. As for the black scuffing, what did everyone expect? Aluminum doesn't naturally occur in black. Anodized, powder coated or spray painted: the black just isn't permanent.

Just wrap it in plastic and soldier on.

For creating this crap thread.

And yet many of the usual suspects jumped all over it. I never knew fake speaker holes could be so interesting and worth talking about...

That's what I'm saying. I don't know why people become so defensive and try to find excuses for obvious defects in the phone

My sgs4 has many issues as well. Heck, my first unit had air bubbles in the black bezel area in the front under the glass.

The sgs3 was notorious for having cracked bezels due to cheap plastic molding, etc.

No phone is perfect and I take pity on those who try to bash those for pointing them out.

Remember guys, htc one or sgs4, we are on the same side

The enemy is apple :-P

Why would they be fake?

Why would someone have a fake htc one phone? Or a real phone with fake speakers?

Does your logic even make sense? :-?

Why would someone take a brand new phone and not put a case on it and throw it in a purse with keys and other items that could damage it? Why does it look like the phone was dropped on the corners or some serious damage was done to corners and not the screen? Why was someone that owns a s4 posting these pics?
Some questions the world may never really know but something doesn't look right.. I'm sure glad I don't own the phone that was used to take the pictures..

Because its their phone and they can treat it how they want? Why do some people buy brand new jeans just to end up cutting holes in them, or a new ball cap just to put a fish hook in it and break the bill? Because it is their personal property, and they can do whatever they wish with it.

Some people aren't involved in the cyber war between s4s and HTC ones, perhaps op was genuinely trying to share some inside information on something that has been a wide spread question among people wanting the device.

Regardless of his intentions, I condone the op for the way he is handling everyone calling him a liar and a fraud. Instead of blowing up and typing nasty things in response, he has explained his side of the situation and left it at that.

First question: why was she throwing it in the purse if she knew keys were in there that would scratch it?

Second question: If she knew that it would be thrown in said purse, with said keys, why wouldn't she buy a case?

Third question: see the first two questions.

Yet again, JHB can't accept that HTC isn't perfect. Does it REALLY blow your simple mind that a woman might put her phone in her purse? And that there'd be keys in there? And why put a case on a phone that you think is perfect because it's made out of indestructible aluminum? Are you finally admitting that aluminum isn't the most durable substance known to man?
