Bluetooth text messages - handsfree

I am perplexed. I am a not so recent but still arguably recent convert to Android from WM. I have used three WM phones with an Audi 2010 MMI 3G with nav. Out of the box those phones (HTC Trophy, Nokia 928, and Nokia Icon) would read text messages through the car's audio system. Furthermore I could reply hands free as well. Also at least with the Icon I could also play audio (Spotify, Pandora) as well. With the S8 being comprised of the latest and greatest I can't figure out how to enable this compatibility with the car. Anyone have any ideas or solutions to remedy this?

I am also very frustrated with this issue. It seems that for such an expensive phone many features just don't work well. Bixby is HORRIBLE for hands free texting. Message structure and speech is very awkward and not convenient at all. Cortana was flawless at this! Even installing the Cortana app does not allow speech to text function or text messages to be read. I cant even get in my truck and have the Bluetooth automatically connect to my radio, I have to manually tell it to connect. Not very fluent at all! I'm also curious to any other techniques or solutions to this issue.

I know how you both feel. I was a former 928 and Icon user. Right now, neither Android nor iOS will do what Windows did when it comes to reading text messages. You have to actually ask Google (or Siri) to read the text messages for you. Neither can be set to automatically read them for you, like Cortana did.

That part is odd. My S8+ automatically connects to the BT in my car. What is the make, model, and year of your truck. I had no problems connecting to my 2013 Equinox's radio, nor do I have any problems connecting to the BT adapter I got for my 2002 Highlander.

2013 Ford explorer. Won't auto connect to sync or anything. Also in my F150 I have a aftermarket Bluetooth pod and it won't auto connect to that either, nor any other Bluetooth device in my house
